In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Dear noble brothers, today we explore another of Allah's Most -Beautiful Names, and the Name for today is Al-Malik.
Al-Malik means that Allah is Self-Sufficient in His Character, Attributes and Actions. Man, on the other hand, relies on Allah for his existence and provision. If at any moment Allah cuts off His supply, man will lose his life. No matter how important he is or whatever power he possesses, he will be deceased and turn into a piece of news. A person might take a flight, only to return in a coffin on the flight back home, which requires a lot of paperwork. Allah says:
﴾ My Lord! You have indeed bestowed on me of the sovereignty. ﴿
This means: You have bestowed upon me control over my ownself. One of the British leaders said, "We owned the world but we did not own ourselves". The most beautiful phrase that summarizes Islamic civilization is "Selves were under control." Also, the most significant trait of a believer is that he is in control of his ownself and this is the true dominion.
Man is connected to this Name of Allah (Al-Malik) in the sense of having control over his anger, showing endurance during calamities, and remaining steadfast while facing seductive attractions. The believer is a man of principles and values, and because he maintains a connection with Al-Malik, he gains control over his ownself.
