The Most Beautiful Names of Allah–Lesson 08 – Al-Kareem (The Most Generous)

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear noble brothers, today we explore another of Allah's Most Beautiful Names, and the Name for today is Al-Kareem.

Al-Kareem means that Allah has manifested His Generosity to mankind when they bore the trust. Allah honored and dignified them, granted them succession on the earth, entrusted them with His Kingdom, and elevated them above other creations. Allah says:

﴾ And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam, and We have carried them on land and sea. ﴿

[ Al Isra', 70 ]

This honor has been granted to mankind because of their acceptance of the trust when it was offered to them.

Al-Kareem (i.e., Allah) also has given glad tidings to His believing worshipers that they will be abundantly and generously rewarded, not to mention being greatly forgiven.

﴾ Verily, your Lord is of vast forgiveness. ﴿

[ An-Najm, 32 ]

Allah's Vast Provision is indicated in the following Ayah:

﴾ And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), certainly, We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth. ﴿

[ Al-A'raf, 96 ]

Al-Kareem is the Most Generous, Whose Bestowal and Generosity never end. He is The One Who gives whatever He decrees to whomever He wills. When Allah gives, He amazes the one who receives His Bestowal. He gives whoever He wishes, whether He is asked or not. He does not remind people of His Favor, but His Generosity in bestowal is a reminder in itself.

Allah Almighty forgives sins, because He is generous. He conceals people's shortcomings, rewards the believers out of His Favor upon them, and treats those who turn away from Him with His Justice.
