In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Master Muhammad, the Faithful and the Honest.
Religion is based on knowing Allah. If man knows Allah then he knows His Commands, he will devotedly obey Him, but if he knows the Commands of Allah without knowing Him, he will artfully disobey Him.
As though I put my finger on the problem from which Muslims suffer. They know Allah's Commands, yet they do not know The Commander (i.e. Allah) as they are supposed to. Knowing the Commander will make man count to million before disobeying Him. Thus, religion is based on knowing Allah, however, Allah's Entity cannot be seen by man. Allah says:
﴾ ﴾ No vision can grasp Him﴿ ﴿
Some scholars said though, "Minds are able to reach Allah without grasping with His Entity". Therefore, this universe, with its heavens, earth, creations, plants, animals, human beings, mountains, rivers, seas and fruits are but signs of His Greatness, and thus, pondering over all that, is the only passable path to know Allah. Allah says:
﴾ ﴾ Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides﴿ ﴿
Man has three positions, either he/she is standing, sitting or lying down, and these three positions are mentioned in this Ayah, which leads to the conclusion that man should always be in a status of remembering Allah. Allah says:
﴾ ﴾ And think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth﴿ ﴿
Thinking deeply is something essential in religion, because Allah uses the verb think in the simple present tense, which indicates a habitual activity:
﴾ ﴾ (Saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.﴿ ﴿
Reflecting is the highest rank amongst the acts of worship at all, because reflecting on the creations will put you face to face with the Greatness of Allah. Allah has endless signs in His Creations, Actions and Words. Everything in the universe, with no exception, denotes Allah's Existence, Oneness and Perfection. Accordingly, thinking deeply (of Allah's Signs) is the fast way to know Allah Almighty, because it puts man face to face with Allah's Greatness.
