- Ramadan Lectures 1446 AH – The Most Beautiful Names of Allah
Dear noble brothers, today
we explore another of Allah's Most Beautiful Names, and the Name for today is
Al-Jabbar.
Al-Jabbar is a figurative sense of
the word "Jaber", which is derived from the
verb "Yajbur", meaning to rectify something
by force.
Al-Jabbar means "The Most-High",
referring to the One Who is beyond being reached, overpowered, or defeated.
Dear brothers, Al-Jabbar, in another sense,
means to rectify things, much like treating a bone fracture. Just as a broken
bone is healed, Allah treats people in the same way; He fixes their matters,
bridges gaps, reunites people, enriches the poor, mends the hearts of the
broken-hearted, gives the underprivileged, and exalts the humiliated.
What does the merchant say after buying
goods? He says: "O Allah Al-Jabbar"; Al-Jabbar means that Allah is
beloved to the soul, as He brings joy to the hearts of the oppressed, the poor,
the sick, the underprivileged, and those in trouble.
