In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

We start this lecture by saying  that angels have reason, but they do not have desires, and the animals have instincts but have no reason, whereas man has both. If man's reason takes over his lusts, he will exalt to a higher rank above angels, but if his lusts take over his reason, he becomes lower than the animal. Man's reason leads him to Paradise, to safety, to turning to Allah, to wisdom and to real happiness in this life and in the Hereafter.

We, as human beings, have lusts, and they are similar to gasoline, how?  If it is put in the car tank, runs in the tubes and is ignited at the right time, the car will move safely. Thus, you can take your family to a nice place in a vacation. However, the same fuel can be poured on the car and by giving it a light, it will burn the car and the people in it. Hence, lusts are either a pushing power to safety, or a devastating one.

We should deeply understand our religion. There is a wide range for a lust to be fulfilled, but Allah has allowed part of this range and made the rest unlawful, thus as long as you stay in the allowed range, you will be safe, secured and stable, and you will enjoy life more than anyone in the world. There is no deprivation in religion, Allah says:

﴾ And who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, without guidance from Allah?   ﴿

[  [Al-Qasas, 50] ]

Scholars of fundamentals in Islam use what they call "Mafhoom Al-Mukhalafah" (the opposite meaning embraced in an Ayah) to interpret Quran, and according to which  the implied meaning of the previous Ayah is that following desires according to Allah's Guidance is fine.

In Islam there is no deprivation, but rather we have regulation. If someone longs for a woman, he has to get married, because there is no boyfriend or girlfriend in Islam, and there is no mistress either.

Islam is a Divine Way of life, and in Islam man can earn lawful money, but he cannot take a bribe or earn money from other unlawful ways. Again, every lust installed in man but has a lawful way through which it can be fulfilled.
