In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Many people think well of Allah, to such an extent that they fall short in performing their acts of obedience, claiming, "We just think positively of Allah the Almighty (mistakenly thinking that no matter how many sins they commit, Allah will forgive them at the end)." Well, all of us think positively of Allah the Almighty believing in the following Hadith:

(( (Allah, the Most High said: "I am as My slave thinks of Me, so let him think of Me the way he wants.")  ))

We think well of Allah, believing that He will forgive us and be merciful to us. Yet, some people despair of Allah's Mercy, and so the question is: How should we think well of Allah, as we should, according to the Shari'ah rulings?

May Allah bless you; this is a very delicate question, and its answer is: Virtue is in the middle between two extremes. The first extreme is having ill thought of Allah the Almighty, which reflects ignorance that deserves Allah's aversion. The second extreme is the naïvely positive thinking of Allah the Almighty in the sense of asking for Paradise without paying any effort to be admitted to it.

Keep in mind that seeking Paradise without striving and working for it, is a sin unto itself. How naïve such kind of thinking!  Since you are promised to be admitted to the Paradise that is as wide as the heavens and the earth, you should abide by Shari'ah rulings, apply Islamic teachings, act upon Allah's Orders, be aware of the permissible and impermissible matters, establish Islam at your home and work, seek Islamic knowledge, and know whatever is Halal (lawful) and whatever is Haram (unlawful).

There are very big tasks for you to achieve, and by fulfilling them, you will be on the right path. To clarify this point take the example of someone who would like to pursue a Doctoral Degree. Such man should finish the primary, intermediate and secondary schools and then study at the university to get his BA, diploma, master's, and doctorate in order to have this abbreviation "Dr." before his name. Much in the same line, do you think you will be admitted to the Paradise that is as wide as the heavens and the earth without paying the price for it, without being religiously committed, without abiding by the permissible matters and refraining from the forbidden ones, without seeking Islamic knowledge, and without knowing what comes after death?
