"No one of you shall become a true believer until…"
The Prophet PBUH said:
(( No one of you shall become a true believer until… ))
Keep in mind that whenever something is related to one's faith, it is a matter of the utmost seriousness.
(( Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "No one of you shall become a true believer until he desires for his brother what he desires for himself". ))
Interpreters of Hadith said, "Al-Mutlaq ala-Itlaqihi in Quran and Sunnah" (refers to a word or phrase in Quran and Sunnah in its absolute state, meaning it remains valid in that general sense unless a specific, defining text (Muqayyad) limits it.)
Brotherhood, for instance, refers in its absolute state to brotherhood in humility. One of the signs of true faith is to like for others what you like for your own self. In other narrations the Hadith goes on as follows:
(( …And to hate for others what you hate for yourself. ))
The one, who takes what is beneficial for himself and leaves for others what is not beneficial, is someone who does not like for others what he likes for his own self.
In fact, dear brothers, there is a very precise standard for measuring this: Put yourself in the other person's shoes.
Say for instance that you are a public employee, and there is a citizen, whose case could be resolved in few minutes. However, you are enjoying a chat with your friend, so you say to him, "Come back tomorrow". This person came from a far town, and because you asked him to return tomorrow, he has to stay in a hotel. Would you accept this situation if you were in his shoes?
It is an excellent standard, affirmed in many texts: Treat others as you would like them to treat you.
Would you accept your daughter being treated by her in-laws the same bad way you treat your daughter-in-law in your house? Would you tolerate your wife mocking your mother the way you mock hers? Either you treat others humanely or with racism.
A husband who mocks his wife's mother, yet he raises hell if she says a word about his own mother, is an irrational person.
Treat others as you would like them to treat you.
