Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings to our Master Muhammad, the Faithful and the Honest. O Allah, we know nothing but what You teach us, You are the All- Knower, the Wise. O Allah our Lord, teach us what is useful for us, let us make use of what You have taught us and advance us in knowledge. O Allah, show us the righteous things as righteous and help us do them, and show us the bad things as bad and help us keep away from them. O Allah our Lord, make us amongst those who listen to the Word and follow the best meaning of It, and admit us, by Your Grace, to the ranks of Your righteous servants.
Ayaat and Ahadeeth about sleeping early:
Dear believing brothers, whoever recites the Noble Quran and the Noble Prophetic Ahadeeth will conclude that Allah, Exalted and Sublime be He, and the Noble Prophet PBUH recommend us to sleep and wake up early. Allah the Almighty says:
(And have made your sleep as a thing for rest.)
In another Surah, Allah the Almighty says:
(ِAnd recite the Qur'an in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night).)
Regarding this point, the Prophet PBUH said:
(O Allah, bless my people in their early mornings.)
In another Hadith reported on the authority of A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, the Prophet PBUH said:
(The two Rak'ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains.)
According to the Noble Prophetic Sunnah, it is not recommended to stay up after Isha' prayer unless it is for the purpose of discussing a religious matter or seeking Islamic knowledge.
(One should not sleep before the night prayer, nor have discussions after it unless it is about a religious matter.)
It seems that the Prophet PBUH advises us to sleep and wake up early.
What is the interpretation of this Ayah?
Allah the Almighty says:
(And recite the Qur'an in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer).)
Scientists confirm that the highest level of Ozone in the atmosphere is reached at dawn, and it gradually decreases until sunrise when it is minimized. This gas, Ozone, has a very useful effect on the human nervous system, and it activates mental and physical work. Hence, those who stay in bed late after sunrise feel exhausted during the rest of the day. This is the first fact about the Noble Ayaat and the Prophetic Ahadeeth. One more thing, the ultraviolet rays is higher at sunrise than when the sun is in the middle of the sky. Ultraviolet rays are responsible for making vitamin D, which, in turn, is responsible for absorbing the calcium. Thus, remaining asleep after sunrise causes the bones to become soft and weak.
Furthermore, waking up early prevents prolonged sleep. Sleeping for eight straight hours minimizes energy of the body and pulse-beat, and it causes blood to run slowly in blood vessels. As a result, fatty substances gather in the inner walls of blood vessels, making them narrow and sometimes causing angina pectoris. In fact, getting up early to perform al-Fajr Salah prevents prolonged sleep. If necessary, sleep can be divided into two periods: before and after sunrise.
Let me mention one more fact. In the human body there is a substance that enhances the energy of the whole body, increases metabolism therein, and multiplies the sugar level in blood. The maximum level of this substance is noticed in the early morning. These are some of the facts which prove that this Noble Book is from Allah. Allah the Almighty says:
(And recite the Qur'an in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night).)
The substance I have just referred to is called cortisone, which besides increasing metabolism and sugar level in blood, it makes the physical systems and organs of the body more energetic. Not to mention, it reaches its highest level at dawn; it becomes 22 degrees, and then it drops down to 7 degrees after that.
Conclusion:
Dear believing brothers, I would like to conclude this lesson by repeating the following Noble Ayaat and Ahadeeth:
(Perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) from mid-day till the darkness of the night (i.e. the Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib, and 'Isha' prayers), and recite the Qur'an in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night).)
(The two Rak'ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains.)
(O Allah, bless my people in their early mornings.)
