The benefits of silver:

Dear noble brothers, one of the noble regular attendants of this Masjid told me that factories of beverages have a stage at which carbonated water is made to pass through pipes of silver in order to be de-germinated. Later on, I read a translated book about minerals in which the authors, who knew nothing about Allah's Book (the Noble Quran), or Islam, and who might not be religious at all, say, "Silver has a very special property; it sends off a kind of radiation that kills the germs existing in water." Therefore, for purposes of de-germination, either water is made to pass through silver pipes or pieces of silver are put in it.

In another part of the book, the authors say, "This mineral kills bacteria." In a third part they say, "As soon as water is made in touch with silver, it is purified from all the germs existing therein." In a fourth part of the book, the authors say, "In order to de-germinate one liter of water, it is enough to put therein some parts of 1/billion gram of silver." In a fifth part, they say, "The color of silver does not change unless the air is impure. In other words, if the air is polluted with detrimental gases, the color of silver changes." In this case silver can be taken as a means to measure cleanliness of the atmosphere.

In addition to the great many good properties of silver that are made use of in industry, photography, connections, … etc, and in addition to its being a metal whereby commodities are evaluated, Allah the Almighty describes the dwellers of Paradise in the Hereafter in Surat Al-Insan:

(And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal* Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes.)
 [Al-Insan, 15-16]

Why does Allah, Exalted and Sublime be He, mentions silver, but not gold, in the above Quranic Ayaat despite the fact that gold is more precious than silver, and also it is among the vessels in Paradise?! The answer is that these Ayaat include a reference to the special properties of silver since the Noble Quran as Allah, Exalted and Sublime be He, says includes many scientific references:

(There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall be gathered.)

[Al-An'am, 38]

This Ayah confirms that the scientific facts are originally mentioned in Allah's Book, the Noble Quran.
