In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
﴾ Verily! We have sent it (this Qur'an) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree and Proper Estimation). ﴿
What is the meaning of Qadr night? Some scholars said (referring to the structure of the Ayaat), "One Ayah might be linked to the other one, and it interprets it." For instance, Allah, Exalted and Sublime be He, says:
﴾ They made not a just estimate of Allah such as is due to Him. And on the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be grasped by His Hand and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. Glorified is He, and High is He above all that they associate as partners with Him! ﴿
As if Allah the Almighty clarifies the fact that those who are heedless or astray did not make a just estimate of Allah such as due to Him. They believed in Allah as a Creator like other people, but this belief did not penetrate to their hearts and was not manifested in any behavior or commitment.
Hence, not making a just estimate of Allah confirms a serious fact: If you know the Command (which most people do by studying in schools or by attending Friday sermons, and so they become aware of the Divine Commands, the Divine Prohibitions, the pillars of faith, the pillars of Islam, the Halal and the Haram matters), and you do not know the Commander, you will skillfully free yourself from any commitment, and you will try to find a Fatwa or a weak opinion based on an unauthenticated Hadith to slip away from Islamic rulings.
