Signs that indicate the Inimitability of the Noble Quran:

Dear noble brothers, some of the signs that indicate the inimitability of the Noble Quran are the following Ayaat:

﴾ And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth)* Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). ﴿

[ Al-Mu'minum, 12-13 ]

Pay attention to the connectives please, Allah the Almighty says:

﴾ Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). ﴿

[ Al-Mu'minum, 13 ]

As you can see in the Ayah, the safe lodging is the woman's womb. Allah the Almighty says:

﴾ Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh… ﴿

[ Al-Mu'minum, 14 ]

Notice the use of "then" in this Ayaat:

﴾ Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman).)* Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators. ﴿

[ Al-Mu'minum, 13-14 ]

When Allah the Almighty mentions how He made the clot into a little lump of flesh, He uses the connective "then" and when He mentions how He made out of the little lump of flesh bones, He uses "then" too.  Also, when Allah the Almighty mentions that He clothes the bones with flesh, He uses the connective "then". The Arabic connective in these Ayaat is "fa" which indicates the sequence of the successive events rapidly. On the other hand, the Arabic coordinating conjunction "thumma", which is generally interpreted as "then" in English, is used when Allah the Almighty mentions how the Nutfah is made into a clot to indicate the sequence of the successive events that are separated from each other with considerable periods of time.

The most recent up-to-date discoveries in embryology show that there is an interval of time between the stage of the Nutfah and that of the clot. This interval is more than two weeks, during which the growth of the embryo slows down, because it is time for the Nutfah to be deeply rooted in the wall of the womb. At this stage, the embryo does not grow, but rather it establishes ways for absorbing food from the womb, and it is like a disk of cells arranged in a couple of parallel lines. The slowness at this stage of growth of the embryo in the second and third weeks of fertilization is expressed by the Quranic conjunction "thumma", which means "after some time", but the rapid short-termed stage at which the clot grows into a lump of flesh is expressed through the connective "fa", which means "immediately after that". Allah the Almighty says:

﴾ …Then [fa] We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then [fa] We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, [fa] then We clothed the bones with flesh... ﴿

[ Al-Mu'minum, 14 ]

To express what happens for one stage, Allah the Almighty says:

﴾ Then [thumma] We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood)… ﴿

[ Al-Mu'minum, 14 ]

Within a period of two weeks, the fertilized ovule, after having split into 10.000 cells, does not grow, but rather it seeks to deeply root itself in the wall of the womb. That is why its growth slows down. This is expressed in Allah's Divine Book, the Noble Quran, by the use of the coordinating conjunction "thumma":

﴾ And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth)* Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman)* Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators. ﴿

[  Al-Mu'minun, 12-14 ]

Such are the Divine Words of Allah the Almighty, the Creator of all Worlds, Whose Signs which indicate the inimitability of the Noble Quran never end. In fact, every now and then, with the development of science and human knowledge one sign of the inimitability of the Noble Quran comes to light.
