One of the signs of Prophet Muhammad's Prophethood:
In the 18th C. when the world began to seek the path of knowledge, and when the microscope was invented, scientists believed that man is created only from the male sexual discharge (i.e. semen-drop). But this theory was later proven wrong by another theory, claiming that is man created only from the female sexual discharge (i.e. vaginal fluid), and that the male sexual discharge only stimulates the female one to function. During the 17th and 18th C’s, scientists remained uncertain about such scientific issue. However, long before that, Allah’s Messenger, Muhammad, (PBUH), was once asked, “What is man created from?”, and the answer he, (PBUH), gave is considered as clear evidence of his Being Allah’s Messenger. To this effect, Ibn Mas’oud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: A Jew passed by Allah’s Messenger, (PBUH), while he was speaking to some of his Companions. Some unbelieving people from Quraish addressed the Jew, “That man (Muhammad) claims that he is a Prophet.” The Jew said, “I shall ask him about something that only a Prophet knows.” and he came forward and sat down, asking Allah’s Messenger, “O Muhammad! What is man created from?” Allah’s Messenger, (PBUH), said,
(( O Jew! He (Man) is created from the drops of both man and woman. As to the man’s drop (i. e. semen), it is a thick drop from which the bones and nerves are (made); and as to the woman’s drop (i.e. vaginal fluid), it is a thin drop from which the flesh and blood are (made).” The Jew exclaimed: “This is exactly what other Prophets before you have said! ))
[ Narrated by Ahmad (4438) ]
It is well known that modern science confirms that in a sexual intercourse more than 400,000,000 sperms are discharged from the man and that one, only one, of them is allowed to fertilize the woman’s ovule. To the same effect, Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri quoted Allah’s Messenger, (PBUH), as saying,
﴾ Not from all liquid (i.e. sexual discharge) a child is created; and if Allah desires to create something, none could ever prevent Him. ﴿
[ Narrated by Muslim (1348) and Ahmad (11456) ]
Moreover, Allah, All-Mighty, says,
﴾ And indeed We created man (Adam) from an extraction of clay (water and earth). Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). ﴿
The “safe lodging” is the mother’s womb, which is located in the center of the woman's body. But why is the mother’s womb described as “a safe lodging” in the above Noble Ayah (Verse)? This is because the mother’s womb produces a sticky substance that fixes the fertilized egg to the lining of the uterine wall. In other words, the womb is a real lodge and not a mere pass-way. Furthermore, the mother’s womb has an amazingly enormous number of blood vessels that provide the fertilized egg with sufficient blood that supplies the embryo with enough nutrition in order to grow most rapidly.
Another thing: As modern radiographs show, the embryo is covered with a thin membrane; the amnion, which hangs to the upper side of the mother’s womb, and therefore, remains uninfluenced by anything that happens to the internal walls of the womb. Moreover, the embryo is surrounded with a special liquid; the amniotic fluid, which absorbs all external shocks. More amazingly, the mother’s womb itself is hung to the mother’s pelvis by special ligaments at all sides. In other words, the womb is loose, and so is the embryo; and between the womb and embryo is a liquid that absorbs all external shocks. This incredible protection is most eloquently expressed by Allah’s Divine Words,
﴾ And indeed We created man (Adam) from an extraction of clay (water and earth). Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). ﴿
Medical scientists say that bones of the woman’s pelvis are the strongest of all human bones. This is also very helpful in protecting the embryo from different kinds of external shocks. In this context, Allah, Most Gracious, says,
﴾ We shall show them Our Signs in the universe and in their own selves until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Quran) is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witnesses over all things? ﴿
In other words, the Noble Quran is Allah’s Divine Book and an ever-lasting Miracle of His; and every new scientific discovery proves the scientific Inimitability of His Noble Book; the Noble Quran
