We continue with the eighth lesson of the interpretation of ‘Surat Al-Baqarah’, and the verse number ‘17’

A summary of what has come in the previous lessons:

We still interpret the verses which describe the hypocrites. We noticed in the previous lessons that Allah has described the believers in five verses, and He has described the infidels in two verses; while the verses which describe the hypocrites are thirteen; those hypocrites who are saying:

﴾ those who pretend to believe in Allah, give credence to His Omnipotence and Authority and acknowledge the truth of the Hereafter while in fact they hug their old irreverent conviction to their hearts (8) They apply their minds to deceiving Allah, AL-'Alim (the Omniscient), Who knows what is secretly suggested to the mind, and to deceive those whose hearts have been impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues, when in fact, they only deceive themselves, failing to perceive(9)﴿

Those are who spoil in the earth.

﴾ when in fact, they only deceive themselves, failing to perceive (9) ﴿

Those who are:

﴾ And when they are face to face with those whose hearts are impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues they declare that they have conformed their will to Allah’s will, and when they are apart with their satanic confederates who delight in satanic wickedness, they assure them of their confederacy and that they confederate in their design but they were only laughing at the believers with an outward contempt of what they esteemed sacred.(14)﴿

Those who make fun of the believers:

﴾ Allah derides them, and gives them plenty of rope to allow them free scope and action in order to commit themselves to the loss in a maze of error (15) These are they who have been steered by false belief and exchanged the guidance of Providence to the path of righteousness for a perplexed path in a maze of error, and in consequence their embarking in bad business and their captivation in evil trade have caused them the loss of their souls, they were captive victors who lost in gain, nor could they hit the path of righteousness(16)﴿

Originally, there is a commercial process, you pay a thing and cash another; and the trade of the believer has won with Allah, while the hypocrite has lost his trade with Him. These verses had been explained in the last two lessons.

The example is used in the Quran to illustrate facts:

Now, we reach to the Words of Allah, The Greatest:

﴾Their example stands similitude exact of someone who has kindled a fire to give light to a body of companions and when the surroundings glowed with light, Allah extinguished their fire and their alacrity and quenched their light and cut them off illumination and enlightenment and left them in want of physical, spiritual and intellectual sight(17)﴿

As for the word

﴾Their example﴿

Allah, Glory be to Him, gives us an example about the hypocrites; and the example is a very clear sensual image which applies to a complicated incorporeal fact.
So, the example is a fantastic, obvious, a proximate, and an honest way of expression, and the example is one of the fantastic methods of the Holy Quran, which is used in illustrating the facts, and clarifying the matters.

﴾ The simile of those who were given AL-Taw rah to carry in their hearts and in their thoughts and it did not reach their innermost being, nor did they absorb it In their minds or profit by it, speaks of a donkey carrying a load of books full of knowledge and learning but the donkey does not understand it nor does it Profit by it(5)﴿

[Al-Jumu'ah]

If you put a precious books on a donkey's back, and let it go for a long distance, then ask him about some of the facts which are presented in these books, does it reply with a thing more than its braying? Because it didn’t understand anything; so the relation of those who had got the heavenly book, and they did not understand it, and they didn’t execute its rules, is like the relation of this beast with a book which was put on its back.

﴾ And there, he stood similitude exact of the dog which lolls his tongue whether you drive him away or you let him alone.(176)﴿

[Al-A’raf]

The dog lolls its tongue whatever its condition be; whether it was hungry, restful, or tired; that is another example which Allah, Almighty, has given; and it’s so kind that we returned to the Holy Quran to see these fantastic examples which Allah, The Greatest, has given to us in order to clarify some facts.

The Prophet used the example method:

The Prophet, peace be upon Him, had used the example method in many speeches; so he has likened the group the same as a ship boarders who have partaken the places, but some of them wanted to perforate their places in order to take the water quickly; the Prophet said:

(( So if they have left them to do what they want, all of them would be destroyed, and if they have prevent them, then all of them would be survived.))

[Narrated by Al-Boukhari and Al-Termithi from Al-Nu’man Ben Basheer]

If they prevent him, all of them would be survived, and if they obey him, they would be destroyed.
It is a fantastic example about the collective responsibility, as we’re in the same boat, if one of us wants to perforate his space, then all of us will destroy; so if we prevent him, we will survive, and if we obey him then all of us will be destroyed. This is one of the examples of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

((The prayer is the mainstay of the religion.))

[Narrated by Al-Baihaqi in The Faith Defile from Omar]

The mainstay in a tent is bringing it forward, then if this mainstay is being dislodged, the tent became a cloth which is thrown on the ground, and the entity of it does not appear but with the mainstay among it.

(( The prayer is the mainstay of the religion, and who has performed it, is like if he has performed the religion; and who has left it is like if he has demolished the religion))

[Narrated by Al-Baihaqi in The Faith Defile from Omar]

A lot of verses which have screaming examples, and a lot of speeches which have honest examples; sometimes, the propagandists use the example method, and it is one of the fantastic ways of clarifying the facts.

The hypocrites have no balance in the Hereafter:

Dear brother, if you want to teach, if you want to clarify, or if you want to tell the truth, then use the example, because it is a Quranic method, and a Prophetical method; as there is no work greater than to be such like the style of the Quran, and the Prophetical style.

Those are the hypocrites, for they only loved the worldly life, and because the love of the worldly life is the head of every sin. They love the world, and made it the end of their hopes and the focus of their own place, they have striven for it, they founded and built, and they had fixed their feet in the land; but when they wanted to get the results of this long effort, which has taken more than forty years or sixty years of their life for example, the death surprised them and took every thing in one second.

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of someone who has kindled a fire to give light to a body of companions(17)﴿

The verb “to kindle” is equal to the lingual phrase “ to ask for doing” which means the request; the asking for fire, the asking for fire in order to lighten his life by asking for the money, the honor, the high standing, the beauty, the comfortable house, and the vehicle, these are his requests.

﴾ who has kindled a fire to give light to a body of companions (17) ﴿

He has kindled a fire in order to give him the light; then after a strenuous effort, a long life, and a hard work, the fire has emerged and lightened everything around him; but, suddenly, the Angel of Death has come and taken all his effort, and all of these gains.
This is the case of the hypocrites, they have no balance in the Hereafter, but only in worldly life, all the eggs in one basket, so, if this basket was taken from him, he lost everything. The hypocrite has no future at all, he may have a wonderful present too.

Examples of people who were surprised with death:

Allah, The Greatest, said:

﴾ If you see them you admire their physical or material frames, their looks speak affection and their discourse speaks their presence, and when they speak they speak all cream, skimmed, and they speak sense that you cannot help but open to them your heart's ears, while in effect their words are flattering and hollow, devoid of belief, just as hollow stems of trees are devoid of life. Prompted by sense of quiet and by anxiety for their safety, they are vulnerable and susceptible to a physical force, they are susceptible to a loud cry be it uttered in approbation or denunciation. They are the avowed enemy; beware of them; Allah condemns them in as much as they are worth. How could they deviate from the path of righteousness to the path of vanity!(4)﴿

[Al-Munafiqoon]

His wealth is abundant, and his position is high, but he has no future; all the money which he has, all the merits which he has, and all the life styles which he enjoys life's pleasures; but the world is vested in the diameter of his coronary artery, the world is vested in the liquidity of his blood, and it is vested in the growth of his cells, then if the growth of the cells has disrupted, he lost everything, and if his coronary artery has narrowed he lost everything, and if his blood has frozen in a place, he lost everything.

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of someone who has kindled a fire to give light to a body of companions(17)﴿

He seeks, he works, he watches, he travels, he establishes, he works very hard, and he disputes only for the worldly life, for the money, for the high standing, then if it has lightened around him; it means that he has started to have the results of his work, he was surprised with death in the most critical times, in the top of his brilliance, and in the top of his enjoyment with life; the death has surprised him after he has finished the edifice, after he has got the certificate, after a few days of his marriage, and after a few years of his brilliance; also there are thousands of examples.
A person has worked hard for a long years to build a house, and when the house has finished, the death has surprised that person after a few days.

A brother has told me about a human who had bought a house in a beautiful place, and he had interested with its finishing in an amazing way, then he fetched his baggage in order to stabilize in this house; he fetched the second quantity, and the third one; so a device remained which is not being composed, then the device was composed, and when the last date of changing the residence and stabilizing in the new house has come, he has died.

The hypocrite has no target for the afterlife:

This is a general talk, the human seeks to the worldly life with all his effort, with every time he has, with all his wealth, with all his toil, and with all his hard working, hence, if he has possessed something from it, and it has lightened around him, that he became of a high position, he has a steady income, he lives in a comfortable house, he has a luxuriant vehicle, he has a potency, his contacts are good, he has a lot of followers and people who know him; and in this moment of rhapsody the Angel of Death comes to him to take everything in one second.

The hypocrite is a human who has no otherworldly goal, and he is without a future, and this is the clearest example.
(has kindled a fire "17" )

He exerts the hard effort to light up everything around him, but his enjoyment never lasts for more than a few years, and this worldly life is before you without surprises, until human reaches to the reasonable extent, he needs forty years of his life; so, as for the average of human's age, what did remain of his life? The Prophet, peace be upon him, has said:

(( The glacis of deaths is between sixty to seventy of age. ))

[Al-Hakeem from Abu Hurayra]

Every year that you still alive after the age of sixty is a gain, hence, when the human reaches the age of sixty he feels that he is going to be surprised with death in every moment; sometimes, he may die in the age of fifty, so, in the best chances after the age of sixty that the possibility of death is existing at any moment; how many years did he enjoy his life? Twenty years.
He has lost the eternity for twenty years which are full of troubles, enmities, and legal proceedings.
Look at the adjudication palace, you find hundreds thousands of proceedings, you find proceedings between people, family disputes, commercial disputes, and he is infected in his health; but he calls upon the world with everything that he owns; this is the status of the hypocrite.

﴾Their example stands similitude exact of someone who has kindled a fire to give light to a body of companions and when the surroundings glowed with light, Allah extinguished their fire and their alacrity and quenched their light and cut them off illumination and enlightenment(17)﴿

Several meanings for (who has kindled a fire):

1- The hypocrite wants to lighten his life to feel happy:

Of course, the hypocrite wanted from the fire its light; you may need the fire for warmth, to cook the food, or you may want it for lightening.
Here Allah, Almighty, wanted to show us that the hypocrite wants the fire to light up his life, to make his life happy, full of joy, full of superiority, full of splendor, and full of luxury; but how many of luxury houses which are not inhabited by their owners? How many of luxury vehicles which did not be driven, but a few days? Then the human has been surprised by the Angel of Death; that person who makes his gains are limited in the worldly life; is gambling and adventuring.

The believer has a future, and the Angel of Death comes to him, but the Angel of Death comes to him and he has a great balance at Allah, as he offered his money in front of him, so it's easy to catch it, because he has a great balance at Allah, his rectitude, and his interest in learning, his righteous deeds, his utility of the Muslims, his truthfulness, his honesty, and the good bringing up of his children; all of these are huge balances which are deposited for him in the Hereafter, then if death has surprised him, he would say: hello.
The death is the masterpiece of the believer, and it is the wedding of the believer; so, don't be, dear brother, like who has put all of his potentials in the worldly life; these high potentials for the worldly life may be terminated with a stroke, with a sudden heart attack, with a brain clot, and with the random growth of the cells.
On the other hand, the person who has a great balance of the righteous work, of the forensic discipline, and who has a great balance of the calling for Allah, if the death has come to him, then the death is his masterpiece and his wedding.

2- The hypocrites reject the call of the prophet:

The second meaning in this verse is that the Jews were challenging the hypocrites before the coming of the prophetic message by saying: "It is the time of the coming of a Prophet who we will believe in", then the hypocrites had to believe in this prophet to challenge the Jews who had prognosticated with him. When the prophet who they were waiting, and they were looking for him had come in order to disprove the intrigue of the Jews, and to stand before them face to face, they had denied him.
So, they have enkindled a fire, and when it lightened around them, Allah has abolished their light which may guide them to the path of happiness in the worldly life and the Hereafter, because of their rejection to the call of this Prophet.

3- They are infidels, but they show belief for their interests:

The third meaning is that despite these hypocrites are infidels, but their interests are related to the believers, they have declared the Islam, and concealed their disbelief, and they wanted only the worldly life; those have benefited of their disbelief, but they differ from the disbelievers that they have interests with the believers, hence they have demonstrated what they do not conceal in their hearts, and they have declared what they do not cover; and the evidence of this is:

﴾Deaf and dumb, insensible to light, they are unable to retrace their steps that lead them into error(18)﴿

These are the outlets of the belief.

Allah wants us to listen and follow:

A deaf deafness, which does not make hear.

﴾ Indeed, there is what is commendable in this narrative and worthy of acceptance and regard for him whose heart has been touched with the Divine hand and has opened his heart's ears and his mind's eyes and has witnessed the ground for belief tending to prove the conclusion(37)﴿

[Qaf]

If the human has listened:

﴾ «If both of you change your minds with regard to past action and conduct and feel contrition and keep Allah in mind, then you have indeed opened your hearts' ears». « And if you challenge him and his wisdom then you must know that Allah, is his tutelary protector and so are the Spirit Gabriel (Gabriel) and the pious among the believers, and moreover the angels support him and form his back»(4)﴿

[Al-Tahreem]

The believer listens to the right, but the infidel doesn’t listen, as he may sit in a religious session, because he has a date with his friend who has said to him: “I’ll meet you in the mosque”; so, he sits, and listens to the whole lesson, but he doesn’t understand anything, because his mind is not there, as the religious lesson is on a side, and his mind is on the other one,

﴾ Deaf ﴿

and you may talk to him about Allah, then you find him yawns, you find him preoccupies himself, that he interests in the coins price, the transactions, the Dirham and the Dinar, and he interests in women; then if you have talked to him a decisive and a dangerous speech, then you are on a side and he is on the other one,

﴾ Deaf ﴿

; so, at the hereafter, the inhabitants of the hell say:

﴾ And they add, «had we opened our hearts' ears or used our minds' eyes, we would never be among those destined to the blazes of Hell»(10)﴿

[Al-Mulk]

The Holy Quran stabilizes that it’s not enough to hear the teller in order to be a good listener, but the listening which Allah, Almighty, wants is the one that be followed by a performance:

The attributes of the hypocrites:

Allah, The Greatest, has said:

﴾ Nor permit yourselves to be like those -the hypocrites- who pretended to have listened faithfully to the truth and pretended to abide by it when in fact they counseled deaf and closed their hearts' ears to discourses on practical divinity; there is speed in their dumbness(21)﴿

[Al-Anfal]

It’s a big disaster that a human comes to a religious session and listens to a dangerous talk which is related to his fate then he doesn’t care, as if he didn’t hear anything like the deaf person. image

﴾ and their heart's ears are deaf, it exerts a blinding effect on their intellectual and spiritual perception. These are they who seem to be called upon from afar as the earth's distant ends; they are also distant from Allah's blessed abode(44)﴿

[Fussilat]

The hypocrite is a deaf.

﴾ Deaf and dumb (18) ﴿

He doesn’t care, because it does not concern him at all, and he does not tell the truth, so if he does not tell the truth, then it is worthier that he does not ask, because he doesn’t use his tongue but only for the worldly life, for the backbiting and gossiping, for talking about women, and for talking about the aspects of the world.

﴾ Deaf and dumb, insensible to light (18) ﴿

He doesn’t see the facts, he doesn’t see the verses which are indicated of the greatness of Allah, and he doesn’t see the deeds of Allah, Almighty, which the hearts are trembled for them.

﴾ Deaf and dumb, insensible to light, they are unable to retrace their steps that lead them into error(18)﴿

How do they retrace their steps with all their deafness, muteness, and blindness??!!

Death comes suddenly:

The first meaning of this verse is that the hypocrite is looking for the worldly life, and he only concerns of the worldly life, he concerns of collecting the dirham and the dinar.
He bought the luxurious house, the vehicle, and he led a very luxurious life, then he is surprised that all this fatigue has went in vain.

A student has said to me: “My uncle has a cinema, the story is very old and I think it happened in the sixties of the last century, he told me that his uncle has collected about five millions in the sixties, it equivalents to almost five hundred million dollars at present, in order to live of a great affluence and enjoy this world at the last part of his life; but a malignant disease has infected him at an early age; on his deathbed, he told his nephew, who is my student, while he was crying "I have collected this money through illegal way in order to enjoy it, but I did not have the chance to enjoy it." This is a repeated story.

(( Your love for a thing makes you blind and deaf. ))

[Ahmad and Abu Dawud, from Abu Al-Dardaa]

The worldly life lures, harms, and brings the bitterness; I will tell a symbolism story which I have mentioned to you a lot, that a human wanted to commit suicide, and the Angel of Death came and showed him a way to be a rich man, then he became a very rich man, and then he has the chance to marry the king's daughter and became the son-in-law of the King, but the Angel of Death had surprised him at his wedding day; at that moment, the man said to him: " Are you going to take me now?! I wish that you have taken me before", in the day that I was about to commit the suicide for the dirham and the dinar.
Death comes at an inconvenient and unexpected time ever, and that is of the wisdom of Allah, as the believer is ready to meet Allah, Almighty, who will say welcome to him.
The Angel of Death comes to a lot of faithful people, while they are in the best cases, and they are longing for him.

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of someone who has kindled a fire to give light to a body of companions and when the surroundings glowed with light, Allah extinguished their fire and their alacrity and quenched their light and cut them off illumination and enlightenment and left them in want of physical, spiritual and intellectual sight (17) Deaf and dumb, insensible to light, they are unable to retrace their steps that lead them into error(18)﴿

How do they retrace their steps? The tools of retraction are out of order, the ear which is the hearing tool is deaf, the tool of the verses vision is covered with a film, and the tool of learning the religious knowledge is out of order. This type of hypocrites is infidel.

﴾ Deaf and dumb, insensible to light, they are unable to retrace their steps that lead them into error(18)﴿

People with poor selves mentioned in the Quran:

And the second type of those who have a poor-selves, or the matters are made a problematic to them, those have some of welfare

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of a people who are overshadowed with dark thunder cloud floating in the floor of the vault of heaven..(9)﴿

This religion is like the clouds that has all the welfare. Someone says: "A cloud carries about three hundred million tons of water will descend on the earth, so the earth will fill with green grass, crops, fruit trees, and sparkling fountains, The water is the basis of the livelihood.

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of a people who are overshadowed with dark thunder cloud floating in the floor of the vault of heaven..(9)﴿

But these clouds obscure the sun, as winter's days are cloudy, so the human may hear the sound of thunder and his heart trembles, and he might see the light of the flash and catches his eyes. The hypocrites had never seen the welfare in this clouds, they had been bothered from the clouds which covers the sun, they had been bothered from the voice of thunder, and they had been bothered from the lightning flash , all of this had bothered them so they refused the cloud.
In Islam, there is a prevention of seeing the unlawful, there is an almsgiving, there is a controlling of the tongue, there are rules, there are prayers, there is fasting, and there is a discipline; these duties had bothered them, so they refused all the religion.

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of a people who are overshadowed with dark thunder cloud floating in the floor of the vault of heaven and sends forth thunder and lightning, terrifying and startling, and they think that by plugging their ears with their finger tips to make them impervious to sound they would
avert death, but Allah besets and bounds those who deny Him on all sides(19)﴿

Those people want the gains of Islam without troubles:

What is distinguishing them from the initial people is the saying of Allah, The Greatest:

﴾ and had Allah willed He would have deprived them of their sense of hearing and that of sight, faculties divine; He is indeed Qadirun (Omnipotent) to effect all things(20)﴿

Those want from Islam its gains not its troubles; they want the winnings not the loss, and they want to glory themselves on the Islam, and to earn its results without giving the price; so, the status of those people with Islam is:

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of a people who are overshadowed with dark thunder cloud floating in the floor of the vault of heaven and sends forth thunder and lightning, terrifying and startling(19)﴿

Islam has duties, therefore, the aberrant groups always reduce these duties, it’s a basis, they idolize the persons, and they authorize the fabricated and weak speeches; also the aberrant groups have an inimical tendency.

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of a people who are overshadowed with dark thunder cloud floating in the floor of the vault of heaven and sends forth thunder and lightning, terrifying and startling(19)﴿

Difference between the believers and those people:

The believer prays the dawn prayer in its time, he reauthors the Quran, he controls with his tongue, he spends his money, he educates his children, and he works hard; but there is another sample which its individuals enjoy their life.
In our life, we find a person who gives and person who takes; and we find a person who relaxes and a person who works hard.

﴾ and they think that by plugging their ears with their finger tips to make them impervious to sound they would avert death(19)﴿

He trembles when the death is mentioned, also some people hate the Quran, why? Because it is reauthord in the sad occasions, as if the Quran reminds them with the death.
There are humans hate some plants, because those plants are put on the tombs, as their extreme love of the worldly life, those people hate everything that remind them with the Afterlife; insomuch that you never see a funeral in some countries, you never see death notices on the walls, and the died person is carried by the ambulance from the hospital to the funeral directly.

There are many Islamic countries which prevent the death announcement, and prevent the funerals, that you never see the death in these countries, but you see a life!!
Sometimes, we listen to a death announcement coming from a minaret that reminds us with death. We read the death notice everyday, we see a funeral before us. As the Prophet, peace be upon him, has said:

(( Do much of the mention of the Angel of Death who destroys the pleasures, who breaks lovers, and dispels the groups.))

[Narrated by Al-Termithi and Al-Nisaei from Abu Horayra]

((Live as long as you want, then you are dead; love who you want, then you are leaving him; and do what you want, then you are requited for it))

[Narrated by Al-Shirazi and Al-Baihaqi from Jaber]

That person who wants the gains from Islam, if there is a festival, a picnic, or a dispensation of something, you find him in the first rank, but if there is a duty you will not find him; because he wants the gains not the troubles, he wants the profits not the loss, and he wants to get the results not to work hard.

﴾ Their example stands similitude exact of a people who are overshadowed with dark thunder cloud floating in the floor of the vault of heaven(19)﴿

Those who have poor-selves, have no limits:

Sometimes, Islam needs to an effort, needs to willpower, and needs to a pressure; and the person who has a poor-self doesn’t like the extended effort, and he doesn’t like the extreme pressure, but like the degeneration.
The hypocrite sits with anybody he wants, whether it is male or female, married or not married, it’s lawful to sit with her or not, he never has any problem; he looks at anything whether it is allowed or not, he say: “let’s learn.”
He allows to his eyes to see anything, and he talks anything, because he has no limits at all, he is undisciplined, he is against the willpower, and he is against the methodicalness because he doesn’t bear it.

﴾ and sends forth thunder and lightning, terrifying and startling and they think that by plugging their ears with their finger tips to make them impervious to sound(19)﴿

He must not hear the talk which bsh3er him, so he put his finger in his ear, and this is a reality; as if you talk about the Afterlife, you find him yawning, or he excuses for a date that he has, but if the talk is about the worldly life, then he can sit with you till the one o’clock after midnight, all his dates are abolished, and he completely listens to you with all his activity. While if your talk is about the Afterlife, you find him fidgeting, yawning, grumbling, and apologizing.

﴾ they think that by plugging their ears with their finger tips to make them impervious to sound they would avert death,(19)﴿

Do they think that if they have ignored the mention of death, if they have ignored the Afterlife, then it would be not infected them? And they would be not die?

﴾ but Allah besets and bounds those who deny Him on all sides (19) ﴿

There are laws going on you, although you didn’t believe in:

It’s a very important point, there are laws that going on you, although you didn’t believe in; these laws are implemented on you whether you like it or not, and the nearest; such as: the law of the fall, that the free fall has a law, and the umbrella of the plane is based on this law; so if the human has laughed at this law, if he has despised it, if he did not care about it, and if he has lied on this law; and threw himself from the plane, so, does not the law implement on him?
If he had lied with the law of falling, would he get down securely without a parachute? He would get down, but dead. It means that all the same to believe or not believe, to recognize or not recognize, to ratify it or not, the law is applied.
He doesn’t bear to hear the right, he doesn’t bear the reminding with the hereafter, he doesn’t bear the reminding with death, and he makes his finger in his ears in order to prevent the right of reaching him, but Allah is surrounding him.
So, this man is too stupid, like an ostrich if it has immersed its head in the sand, it has thought that the danger would not approach it , despite that it has become an easy prey to its enemy; and when it has immersed its head in the sand, then the landscape of its enemy was absent, so it thought that its enemy has disappeared, as it has concealed its enemy’s vision of itself, therefore, it has become a permitted bite for its enemy, this case is very precise:

﴾ Lightning very nearly snatches their sense of sight (20) ﴿

He has mentioned the heaven and the “Houries of the heaven”; as he says: “May Allah gives it to us!”. He likes “Houri of the heaven”.

﴾ and welcome you into gardens of surpassing beauty beneath which rivers flow»(8)﴿

[Al-Tahreem]

And he likes:

﴾ one! In Allah should those whose hearts have been touched with the divine hand put their trust(160)﴿

[Al-‘Imran]

He likes it, hence, he has to pay the price.

A Quranic description of unbalanced people:

Allah, The Greatest, said:

﴾ Lightning very nearly snatches their sense of sight; as often as it emits for them gleams they proceed under its light and when it darkens, their eyes shrivel into darkness in their heads and they stand dead(20)﴿

Sometimes, his trade is being completely in fashion, then he has become likes the religion, he likes the religious knowledge, he likes the religious scholars, and he likes the religious lessons because his business is thriving, but when this flourishing stops, you find that his situation has differed, his prayer has weakened, his confidence in Allah has weakened, and his big hope has disappeared; hence that man who runs whenever the light has lightened, and when it darkens he did not pleased, this man is unbalanced, and in the next verse a precise description of this man:

﴾ as often as it emits for them gleams they proceed under its light and when it darkens, their eyes shrivel into darkness in their heads and they stand dead(20)﴿

The hypocrite:

﴾ And among people are some who serve Allah conditionally, standing on the brink or border, as it were, between faith without and infidelity within. If all goes well with any of them and he makes worldly gains he is gratified and he advances without and to his heart's content. And should he be tested for true belief and inclination and he is consequently befallen with a misfortune or wedded to a calamity he retracts and retreats within, he tumbles down on his face and turns renegade wherefore he loses both worlds, here and Hereafter, And this is indeed the utmost loss(11)﴿

The believer does not change or exchange:

The believer does not change:

﴾ Among the faithful whose hearts reflect the image of religious and spiritual virtues are those who were true to their covenant with Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their promise and acquired the glorious privilege of a martyr, sh3er can hardly wait to receive this honor and never did they change their minds' direction nor their will toward the end and they ascertained their disposition(23)﴿

The believer did not change or exchange, but the hypocrite tends to his interests, as you find him where his interests are good. Now even in the matters of the controversial.
For example, this hypocrite owns a house, and the tenant of this house does not come from it by the law, so the way is blocked because the tenant is protected, then the owner resorts to the religious scholars, and say: “I want the religious rule”. He wants only the rule of Allah because he has felt in his Sixth sense that the law is not with him. As by the rule of the law, it is impossible to make the tenant to get out of the house, and you see him assumes the godliness of the tenant as a weakness; hence, he wants the rule of Allah.
A second subject in the same week, and he found that it was blocked by the way of religion, so he has got the interest of the law, and he appoints a lawyer.
He says: “We are in a state with a form of government and a law”, as you see the way of talk has differed. Before only two days, he had wanted the religion, and now he wants the law; hence, he follows his interests, and he has an ability to know where to make his interests; as if his interest materializes by the religion, then he empowers the scholars; and if his interest does not materialize by the religion, then he empowers the lawyers and the judges.
Therefore, the hypocrite tends with the air anywhere it has tended.

﴾ Lightning very nearly snatches their sense of sight; as often as it emits for them gleams they proceed under its light and when it darkens, their eyes shrivel into darkness in their heads and they stand dead(20)﴿

Distinction between the hypocrites people of poor-selves:

If his son has superiority succeed, then he loves the mosque where his son is, and the scholar of his son, and he says to him: “My son, take your brother with you to the mosque!”; and if his son has failed, then he attributed all the mistakes of his son to the scholar and the mosque, but the mosque has no relation with the subject, your son is the delinquent.
So, he hasn’t a topical solution , and he tends to his interests.

﴾ and when it darkens, their eyes shrivel into darkness in their heads and they stand dead; and had Allah willed He would have deprived them of their sense of hearing and that of sight(20)﴿

They are the rest of a welfare; therefore, many hypocrites in the age of the Prophet (PBUH) their faith was good, and there is a sample of infidel which utilizes with his infidelity, but his interest with the believers, so he clears up what he does not cover, and that is the first type:

﴾ Deaf and dumb, insensible to light, they are unable to retrace their steps that lead them into error(18)﴿

There a second type: Which his self has been weakened in front of the cravings, and the matter has mingled before him, So he tended with his desires in addition of his confidence of the believers, and he is not with those or with those, if he has found any features which are important for him, with the believers, then he followed them; and if troubles have occurred he would disappear, I mean that any threat cancels all his godliness, and he may leave the prayer if he has felt that there is a danger of this trend which he is, but the believer does not change:

Three signs of a hypocrite:

Dear brother, the signs of a hypocrite are three:

(( The signs of a hypocrite are three:
1- Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.
2- Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise).
3- If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. (If you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it.))

[Al-Boukhari from Abu Horayra may Allah be pleased of him]

((Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.))

If he has repented of the falsity, one of the hypocrisy’s characters would abolish.

((Whenever he promises, he always breaks it. ))

If he has repented of breaking promises, one of the hypocrisy’s characters would abolish.

((If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. ))

If he has repented of being dishonest, a third hypocrisy’s character would be abolished, and nothing is stationary.

Of course, the first part of the hypocrites is scary, the first part is infidel, and the second part has a big hope, as if any error or omission in it, it has a duplication, also has a secret and announcement which can be changed or fixed.
Therefore, the companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless them, with all what they are of a high-ranking, the one of them was accusing himself of hypocrisy, and the self-accusations of hypocrisy is good and healthy condition, because the hypocrite live about forty years in the same case, while the believer happens in the one day about forty status. Sometimes he is comfortable and reassuring, sometimes anxious, and sometimes he is scared, such circumstances may happen to him, hence, the evidence of his faith, the evidence of the sincerity of his faith, and the evidence of his care about the pleasure of Allah, Almighty.

Dear Brother, the beginning of this Chapter “Sura” is very important because people are of two men; believer and unbeliever, while the third is confusing, you think him as a believer, but he is not, and this third category, some affiliated to the infidels definitely, and some of them their situation can be fitted, and to return to the row of the believers, as what evidenced than that of the Prophet, peace be upon Him, who did not expose the hypocrites, but he has covered them, and he gave their names to our master Hudhayfah, may Allah be pleased with him; and the unbelievable thing that the Caliph Omar, the giant of Islam, said to him: "By your Lord, O Hudhayfah, is my name with the hypocrites?”
As the intensity of his fear of Allah and the intensity of his care about the pleasure of Allah.
