Lesson 15 – "O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allah and His Messenger (SAW)"

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear noble brothers, we are discussing a new lesson of this series about the Ayaat that start with, "O you who believe…", and today's Ayah is:

(O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allah and His Messenger (SAW), and fear Allah. Verily! Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing* O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet (SAW), nor speak aloud to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds may be rendered fruitless while you perceive not.)

[Al-Hujuraat, 1-2]

Dear brothers, Allah, Exalted and Sublime be He, says:

(And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it))

[Al-Hashr, 7]

This is a Divine Order, and thus, we are ordered by the Noble Quran to take whatsoever the Prophet PBUH ordered us, and we are also ordered to abstain from whatsoever matter the Prophet PBUH forbade us from. Hence,

(O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward...)

[Al-Hujuraat, 1]

Most people would say to any suggested idea, draft law or regulation that contradicts the Prophetic Sunnah, "Well we are in the era of science, thus mingling between men and women or putting our money in banks and taking interests are unavoidable matters".

What did such people do by saying so? They actually put before Allah and His Messenger matters that contradict the prohibition of Riba (usury) while investing their money in usurious banks, and matters that contradict how the relation between man and woman supposed to be according to Islam.

People go over Allah's Orders by giving their own opinion saying, "This prohibition should be ordained", "This restriction should be reduced", or "Cutting the hand of the robber is a brutal act". This is the exact meaning of the Ayah.
