Islamic education - indecent manners- Lesson (10-10 )- Innovating

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, the faithful and the honest. O Allah, we know nothing but what You teach us. You are the All- Knower, the Wise. O Allah our Lord, teach us what is useful for us, and let us make use of what Thou hast taught us. O Allah and advance us in knowledge. O Allah show us the righteousness as right as it is, and bless us with following it. O Allah our Lord make us amongst those who listen to the Word and follow the best meaning of it, and admit us, by Thy Grace, to the ranks of Thy righteous Servants. O Allah our Lord, lead us out from the depths of darkness and illusion, unto the lights of erudition and knowledge, and from the muddy shallows of lusts unto the heavens of Thy Vicinity.

Dear brother, today we are tackling a new trait of The Shameful Traits. I chose innovating to be the subject matter of our lesson today starting from the fact that the bitter reality is much better than the sweet illusion, and from the saying of our master Hudhaifa bin al- Yaman, may Allah be pleased with him,

"The people used to ask Allah's Apostle about good, but I used to ask him about evil for fear that it might overtake me."

[Al-Bukhari]

Innovating is one of the shameful traits:

Innovating is to introduce into Islam something new that does not exist and has no origin in Islam. It is a dangerous threat to religion.

1- The Quranic evidence of forbidding innovating:

The following noble ayah shows how innovating started:

﴾Then, We sent after them, Our Messengers, and We sent 'Iesa (Jesus) - son of Maryam (Mary), and gave him the Injeel (Gospel). And We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him, compassion and mercy. ﴿

[Al-Hadid: 27]

Pay attention to the following ayah please:

﴾But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them, but (they sought it) only to please Allah therewith, but that they did not observe it with the right observance. So We gave those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). ﴿

[Al-Hadid: 27]

2- Islam is a perfect religion; any addition to it or deletion from is rejected:

Dear brother, when Almighty Allah says,

﴾This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. ﴿

[ Al-Ma'idah: 3 ]

It means that the issues which are discussed in the Noble Qur'an are perfect in number and complete in quality. Thus, any addition to this religion implicitly means that there is something missing in it. Also, any deletion from it implicitly means that there is something unneeded. Islam is tawqeefi ]It is not permissible to worship Allah, may He be exalted, through any act of worship unless this act of worship is proven in the Shar'i texts (Qur'an and Sunnah) to be an act of worship that was prescribed by Allah.[ Islam is from Allah the Absolute in His Comprehensiveness and the Absolute in His Knowledge. Therefore, it is impermissible to delete anything from it or add something to it.

3- The consequences of addition and deletion:

When we deleted some of the obligations which strengthen us and make us a powerful nation, we became backwards among the other nations. Also you can notice how when we added things that have nothing to do with religion, we started to fight each other. There are a lot of civil wars around us although the parties of these civil wars have common backgrounds. In brief, when we added to the religion things that have no relation whatsoever to it, we became weak, and when we deleted basic issues from religion, we became a backward nation compared to the other nations.

4- The person of innovation is deprived of repentance:

 Dear brother,

Anas Bin Malek, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him said,

((Allah has deprived the person of innovation of repentance.))

[At-Tabarani, by sound Isnad ]

5- The person of innovation never repents:

Why unlike the disobedient, the person of innovation never repents?

Disobedience is crystal-clear that the disobedient admits it and repents. Unlike the disobedient, the person of innovation never repents because he is illusioned that he is the only person who is right. Thus, to be disobedient- Allah forbid- and repent is much better than to believe in an innovation that does not exist in religion. As I mentioned above, the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, clarified that Allah has deprived the person of innovation of repentance.

The Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said in some of his sermons,

((...The best speech is that embodied in the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. The most evil affairs are the newly invented matters (in the religion), and every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire"...))

[ Muslim and An-Nasa'ee, through Jaber ]

6- Any iinnovation in religion is forbidden

Listen carefully: the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, mentioned that innovation is the one in religion, and he referred to the punishment related to it. I told you previously that the basics of the creeds and the acts of worship are the impermissible matters. Thus, never ever dare to legislate an act of worship as long as you do not have the rigorous evidence. As for the matters related to the Shar'e (Islamic Law,) they are mainly about what is permissible in Islam. Therefore, no matter is considered impermissible unless there is a rigorous evidence in the main sources of the Shar'e.

We have religious matters and we have acts of worship in our religion. The basics in the acts of worship are the impermissible, while the basics in the religious matters are the permissible. When we want to introduce into religion a new act of worship, we need to give rigorous evidence and a reference in the main sources of the Shar'e. Similarly, when we say that something is prohibited, we should have the proof.

Dear brother, listen again to the following sound Hadith:

((...The best speech is that embodied in the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. The most evil affairs are the newly invented matters (in the religion), and every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire"...))

[Muslim and An-Nasa'ee, through Jaber]

Innovation means the one that is introduced into religion. We have many innovations in our worldly life that have no harmful effect to our religion. For example, we have speakers, central heating and hot water in winter to do ablution. All these developments and improvements are innovations, but they have nothing to do with legislation. Actually we have to improve our lives, to have such kinds of innovations and to make use of them in solving the problems of the young people. Whatever is innovated to solve the problems and difficulties of Muslims are welcome. Thus, when we say that this is an innovation, we mean the one in our religion.

 Dear brother,

 Irbass Bin Sariyah said,

((One day the Apostle of Allah, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, led us in prayer, then faced us and gave us a lengthy exhortation at which the eyes shed tears and the hearts were afraid. A man said: "Apostle of Allah! It seems as if it were a farewell exhortation, so what injunction do you give us?" He then said: "I enjoin you to fear Allah, and to hear and obey even if it be an Abyssinian slave, for those of you who live after me will see great disagreement. You must then follow my Sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. I warn you of the newly invented matters (in the religion), and every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance"))

[At-Termidhi, Abu Dawud]

It is narrated in another Hadith,

((…and every misguidance is in the Hellfire...))

[Muslim and An-Nasa'ee, through Jaber ]

7- Stick to the Book (the Noble Qur'an) and the Sunnah:

Dear brother, we keep asserting that our religion should stay as it was in its beginning. It is just like a river falling down from a clear source. The water of this source is clear and fresh. However, when dirty water from other branches mixes with the water of this clear river, its fresh clean water will turn black. Hence, we need to go back to the sources, i.e. the Noble Qur'an and the Sunnah.

Zaid Bin Arqam, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:

((The Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said: "I have left amongst you two things. You will not go astray so long as you hold fast to them. These are the Book of Allah, and the Sunnah of His Messenger."))

[At- Termidhi ]

The first Hadith:

 Dear brother,

Ibi Sa'id Al-Khudri narrated that the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said:

(("Then I say: O Allah may you save my companions, my companions?" He PBUH was answered, "You do not know what they have done after you." After that the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said, "Away with them! Away with whoever has changed my Sunnah."))

[Ahmad ]

You can see nowadays dancing in Masjids, women and men sitting together in Mawalid, non-Islamic activities, polytheistic behavior, sorcery and black magic. All these things are done in an Islamic framework. You meet someone, who could be wicked, with a green turban claiming that it undoes the harmful effects of black magic. Whatever you do will be rejected if it was not done by the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him. Listen again to the Hadith,

((…O Allah may you save my companions, my companions?" He PBUH was answered, "You do not know what they have done after you." After that the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him said, "Away with them! Away with whoever changed my Sunnah."))

[Ahmad]

The second Hadith:

Abi Umayyah ash-Shaybani said: "I came to Aba Tha'alabah Al-Khushni, and I asked him, "Do you have any idea about the paraphrasing of this ayah?" He said, "Which one?" I answered, "When Almighty Allah says,

﴾O you who believe! Take care of your ownselves, [do righteous deeds, fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. If you follow the right guidance and enjoin what is right (Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbid what is wrong (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden) no hurt can come to you from those who are in error.﴿

" He said, "By Allah I asked an expert about it; I asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, and he said,

(("Perform all kinds of good deeds which Allah has ordained and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden. Do not be affected by people who run after money (those kinds of people will sell Islam for money,) who run after fulfilling desires, who run after this worldly life and who admire their own opinions. Take care of your ownself and abandon the public. Ahead of you there lie days of patience, during which being patient will be like grasping a hot coal. The one who does good deeds then will have a reward like that of fifty men who do such deeds." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, the reward of fifty of them? He said: "The reward of fifty of you."))

[Reported by Imam At-Termidhi and Abu Dawud ]

Every field has its experts; you cannot build a road without the help of an soil mechanic engineer who should examine the soil. Also, contruction needs the help of the architecture and the civil engineer. All similar jobs need people who are specialized in certain fields. Why are things different when it comes to religion? Everyone claims that he is the only one who knows all about religion. Someone may tell you that there is something incorrect in religion, or he may say that certain things are difficult to be applied because we live in a different era. Who is he to decide!!!?

They said, "This is unacceptable for us."
Well, who are you to say "for us"?
***

Dear brother, I repeat the Hadith:

(("Perform all kinds of good deeds which Allah has ordained and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden. Do not be affected by people who run after money, who run after fulfilling desires, who run after this worldly life and who admire their own opinions.

We ask Allah to save us as we live during the days of patience. Nowadays performing good deeds has become an act of evil, while performing bed deeds has become something good. People enjoin all what is forbidden and leave all what is righteous. We live in a time when neither good deeds are enjoined nor wrongdoings are forbidden.

The third Hadith:

Dear brother, listen to the following Hadith,

Anas Bin Malek, may Allah be pleased with him, said:

((Three people came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to ask about how the Prophet worshipped. When they were told, it was as if they thought it was little and said, 'Where are we in relation to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who has been forgiven his past and future wrong actions?' He said, "One of them said, 'I will pray all night every night.' Another said, 'I will fast all the time and not break the fast.' The other said, 'I will withdraw from women and never marry.' The Messenger of Allah came to them and said, 'Are you the ones who said such-and-such? By Allah, I am the one among you with the most fear and awareness of Allah, but I fast and break the fast, I pray and yet I sleep, and I marry women. Whoever disdains my Sunnah is not one of us .'))

[Al-Bukhari]

We have a moderate Method, which satisfies the physical and spiritual needs, and it satisfies the requirements of the worldly life as well as the ones of the Hereafter. Also it meets the sublime ideals and the clear facts. Islam is the religion of Fitrah (monotheism,) and its Method is a moderate one.

The fourth Hadith:

Dear brother, listen to the following Hadith,

Abi Idris al-Khawlani heard Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman saying:

(("The people used to ask Allah's Apostle about good, but I used to ask him about evil for fear that it might overtake me. Once I said, "O Allah's Apostle! We were in ignorance and in evil and Allah has bestowed upon us the good; will there be any evil after this good?" He said, "Yes." I asked, "Will there be good after that evil?" He said, "Yes, but it would be tainted with Dakhan (i.e. Little evil)." I asked, "What will its Dakhan be?" He said, "There will be some people who will lead (people) according to principles other than my tradition. You will see their actions and disapprove of them." I said, "Will there be any evil after that good?" He said, "Yes, there will be some people who will invite sh3er to the doors of Hell, and whoever accepts their invitation to it will be thrown in it (by them)." I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Describe those people to us." He said, "They will belong to us and speak our language" I asked, "What do you order me to do if such a thing should take place in my life?" He said, "Adhere to the group of Muslims and their Chief." I asked, "If there is neither a group (of Muslims) nor a chief (what shall I do)?" He said, "Keep away from all those different sects, even if you had to bite (i.e. eat) the root of a tree, till you meet Allah while you are still in that state."))

[Al-Bukhari]

You may find someone who gives a Fatwa and excuses for his disobedience.

The fifth Hadith:

((Being with jama'ah (Muslim community) is mercy while being divided is torture.))

[Ahmad and at-Termithi, through Umar]

The sixth Hadith:

((Beware of division, for Shaytaan likes to be with the isolated person, but he keeps away from every two persons.))

[At-Termidhi, through Ibn Umar]

The seventh Hadith:

((Mu'adh bin Jabal narrated that the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said: Satan is the wolf for man like the wolf which takes the stray sheep and the one that wanders far. Beware of division, and adhere to the jama'ah (the Muslim community.))

[Ahmad ]

((…I asked, "If there is neither a group (of Muslims) nor a chief (what shall I do)?" He said, "Keep away from all those different sects, even if you had to bite (i.e. eat) the root of a tree, till you meet Allah while you are still in that state."))

[Al-Bukhari]

The eighth Hadith:

((Narrated Ayshah, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said: "Whosoever introduces into this religion of ours that which is not a part of it then it must be rejected"))

[Agreed upon]

The ninth Hadith:

 In another narration,

((Narrated Ayshah, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him said: "Whosoever does an action, which we have not commanded then it must be rejected."))

[Muslim]

This religion is tawqeefi; (Revelation) it is from Allah. Thus, it does not accept any modification, development, deletion, addition, change, changing its Method, modernization or canceling. Allah is the Most Expert and the All-Knower, which means that He knows the human qualities. It is nonsense to say that this religion is inapplicable nowadays. Allah knows whatever happens, because He knows what happened, what happens at present and what will happen in the future. Allah knows how things should have happened even if they had not happened.

Dear brother, all the above mentioned ayat (verses of the Quran) and As7adeth are rigorous evidences from the Noble Qur'an and the Sunnah that Islam is perfect in number and complete in quality. Thus, any addition to it is an accusation that it is incomplete and any deletion from it is an accusation that it has extra things.

Some of the scholar’s sayings in which they vilify the innovations:

I would like now to refer to some of the Muslim scholar's sayings.

The first saying:

Maymoon bin Mahran, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "Do not come to the Sultan even if you want to order him to obey Allah."

The second saying:

Ja'afar al-Mansoor said to Abi Hanifah: "O Aba Hanifah if you dare to cheat us one day." He said, "Why should I cheat you since you have nothing that makes me afraid of. Is not who cheats you the one who is afraid of you?" Then Ja'afar said, "If you honor me, you will afflict me, and if you vilify me, you will afflict me too."

The third saying:

"Do not listen to the talk that is about fulfilling desires, because you do not know how much it will affect your heart."

You may say that you are protected and that you adhere to your religion, so you will not be affected by sh3er' talks when you sit with them. I tell you that you will not be able to resist the effect of their talks. Sometimes you sit with people who commit sins, and sins are alluring If you want to show how powerful your will is, you should keep yourself away from whatever leads you to commit a sin. You should keep a space between yourself and sins. Let us say that there is a deep river whose beach has two sides; one of them is very slippery, but the other side is dry. If you want to keep safe, you should walk on the dry side. If you come closer to the slippery one, you may fall down in the river. Thus, "Do not listen to the talk that is about fulfilling desires, because you do not know how much it will affect your heart."

I heard many stories about people who befriended deviated people and became just like them. Some people befriended who used to commit sins, so they like committing those sins. Consequently they neglected their religion.

The fourth saying:

"Do not stay alone with a woman even if you say: 'I will teach her about the Book of Allah.'"

There is something special in the relation between man and woman. You may look at a flower, at a green field, at a blue sea, at a clear sky, at a beautiful forest and at a river of fresh water. All these things are beautiful, but they have no relation with the chemistry of your blood. When you look at a beautiful woman and keep looking at her beauty, a chemical change will take place in your blood. You will be agitated, and such agitation may push you to do something such as committing adultery. Man can keep chaste if he stays away from what makes him commit a sin. Thus, Almighty Allah says,

﴾And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. ﴿

[Al-Isr'a: 32]

This is lust, and it is tempting. If man comes nearer to what stirs this lust, he will be seduced by it and he will be agitated. Thus, gazing at women is one of the causes of adultery. Almighty Allah says,

﴾Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do. ﴿

Scholars concluded that people can keep their private parts protected as long as they lower their gaze.

Befriending deviated people who talk about their sexual adventures, reading book and watching pornographic videos lead to committing adultery. There are scientific studies which refer to the fact that the main reason of all sexual crimes, particularly those which involvedrape , is the addiction to watching pornographic videos.

The fifth saying:

Imam al-Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "The people before you were ruined when they turned into groups and deviated from the Straight Path. They abandoned the main sources of Shar'e (Islamic Law) and depended on their own opinions. Thus, they are misguided and they misguided other people too. "

Personal opinions are rejected in Islam. Islam is the most essential issue in your eternal life and in your eternal happiness. Your relation with your religion may lead you to enter the Paradise of everlasting blessings, and it may lead you to fall into the everlasting torment of Hellfire. I tell you , no flattery is acceptable in Islam.

The Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said:

((This knowledge (i.e. Hadith) is the Religion, so be careful from whom you take your religion.))

He also said,

((O Ibn Umar, take care of your religion! It is only your flesh and blood. Take from those who are upright, and do not take from those who have swerved.))

[Ibin abi Hatem: Al-Ilal (the Causes)]

The sixth saying:

Al-Hasan al-Basri was asked about praying behind the Imam who brings an innovation. He answered, "You can pray behind him. He is the only one accountable for his innovation."

I do not want to mislead you dear brother; you can pray behind the Imam regardless of the fact that he could be an innovator or he may earn ill-gotten money. The relation between the Imam and Allah is a private affair, so it is none of your business. You are responsible for your prayers and the Imam is responsible for his.

The seventh saying:

Al-Hasan al-Basri also said, "There are still servants of Allah who are advisors on earth. Those advisors compare between the deeds of servants and what is mentioned in the Book of Allah. If the deeds match what is mentioned in Qur'an, they will praise Allah, but if they do not, the servants will teach other people how to understand the Book of Allah."

The advisors knew the people who used to do things that displease Almighty Allah.

The eighth saying:

Some scholars said, "Whenever people bring an innovation, Allah will remove the Sunnah that contradicts it."

Every innovation has a deserted Sunnah that contradicts it.

The ninth saying:

Some scholars said, "Innovation is more beloved to Shaytaan than sin. Since a sin may be repented from but an innovation is not repented from."

[Sharh Usul I'tiqaad of al-Laalikaa'ee (d.414) no.238]

Some people have knowledge, and they know that they are people of knowledge. Those people are scholars, so you have to follow them. Other people do not have any knowledge, and they admit that. Those are ignorant, so you should teach them. The most dangerous people are those who have no knowledge, but they do not know that. Those are just like devils, so beware of them.

The tenth saying:

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "He, who innovates an innovation in Islam regarding it as something good, has claimed that Muhammad (may Allah have peace and blessings upon him) has betrayed his trust to deliver the message."

This is what I referred to a few minutes ago. When you bring an innovation to this religion, it is as if you assure people that there is something missing in Islam or there is something extra. You claim that the innovation has filled the gap in religion and removed the extra matters in it. I would like to remind you over and over again that Islam is a perfect religion; it is from the Most Perfect in all His Deeds.

The eleventh saying:

Al-Fudail ibn 'Iyad, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "Whoever sits with a person of innovation, then beware of him."

There are many examples of innovators. A misguided powerful group of people who claimed that at the end of time a prophet appeared in India. This nonsense can never be accepted; falsehood is difficult to be believed. All of us cannot accept the falsehood or believe it, but we can believe the truth. There is a big difference between the truth and the falsehood; the latter is multiple. Almighty Allah says,

﴾And verily, is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. ﴿

[Al-An'am: 153]

Unlike the falsehood, the truth can never be multiple. No matter how many years all of us will live, we will never be able to believe falsehood. We can only believe the truth, so let it be the standard of all your actions and all the moments of your silence.

The twelfth saying:

Some scholars said, "Whoever marries off his beloved daughter to an innovator has cut off her ties of relationship."

The thirteenth saying:

Some scholars also said, "If Allah knows that someone hates an innovator, I ask Allah to forgive this man."

The innovator is whoever introduces something into the Creed or the acts of worship which were not done by the Messenger, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him. How can a mission ( call to Allah) be based on inserting a sword into one side of your body and getting it out of the other side? Is this the mission to Allah? Is this what the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, did?

The fourteenth saying:

"Follow the path of guidance and do not be affected by how few the followers are. Beware of the path of misguidance and do not be attracted to how many the ruined followers are. "

The majority of people nowadays are far from Allah. Almighty Allah say,

﴾And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah's Path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie.﴿

[Al-An'am: 116 ]

Stay with the straightforward minority of believers and do not stay with the heedless majority.

The fifteenth saying:

"Whoever sits with a person of innovation has not been given wisdom. Being a person of innovation is one of the signs of affliction."

Whoever applies the Sunnah to his sayings and actions, his words are the ones of wisdom. Whoever applies the falsehood to his sayings and actions, his words are those of innovation.

 Almighty Allah says:

﴾If you obey him, you shall be on the right guidance. ﴿

[An-Nur: 54 ]

Imam Dhun Nun al-Misri, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "The corruption comes unto the creatures through six things:

The first one: their weak intentions to work for the Hereafter.
The second one: their bodies have become ready to satisfy their lusts.
The third one: their great expectations in a long lasting life made them blind to that life is indeed short.
The fourth one: they prefer pleasing the creatures to pleasing Allah
The fifth one: they obeyed their desires, but neglected the Sunnah of their Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him.
The sixth one: they made the faults of the Salaf (ancestors) an excuse for themselves and neglected most of their outstanding traits. "

The sixteenth saying:

Dear brother, when Imam an-Nawawi paraphrased the Hadith of the Messenger, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, "Whosoever introduces into this religion of ours that which is not a part of it then it must be rejected," He said, "This Hadith should be by heart, used to stop all wrongdoings and be a reference to people."

The seventeenth saying:

There are many other sayings but the best of them all is the following, "The acts of worship are based on Shar'e and following it, rather than on desires and innovations."

Nowadays, we hear of a sham marriage performed so that a woman can perform Hajj with a mahram. The contract of marriage is a sham one. Then suddenly the so-called groom intends to marry that woman during the period of Hajj, and when he knows that she is a rich woman, he will never divorce her. this man is manipulating religion. I repeat, "The acts of worship are based on Shar'e and following it, rather than on desires and innovations."

Islam is essentially based on two sources: the first one is to worship Allah Alone Who has no partner, and the second one is to worship what is legislated by the Messenger of Allah, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him. We should worship Almighty Allah the way He orders us to do, rather than by depending on desires and innovations.

Sometimes a Muslim wants to perform Hajj, so he bribes people to help him do that; this is innovation. Also when someone lies to other people in order to perform Hajj, his Hajj is an innovation. An innovation can be introduced when a pilgrim performs Hajj with a woman whom is his false wife (by shame marriage.) It could also happen when a pilgrim borrows money from people to perform Hajj, or when he comes to Makkah illegally. Performing Hajj is a sublime act of worship which Allah does not ask you to perform by disobedience.

The eighteenth saying

Some scholars said, "When hearts become busy with innovations, they neglect the Sunnah."

The bad consequences of the innovation:

 - The innovation ruins the good deeds; all the good deeds of the innovator will be ruined.
 - Introducing an innovation means that Islam is imperfect; it requires either addition to it or deletion from it.
 - The person of innovation is one of the agents of Shaytaan, and he is one of the enemies of the Most Gracious.
 - Innovating is more hateful to Allah than a lot of disobediences.
 - Unlike people of disobedience, the person of innovation is deprived of repentance.
 - There is nothing good in innovation since every innovation is misguidance.
 - Innovation could be introduced in both the Creed and the acts of worship. The most evil is the one in the Creed. Innovation is of two kinds; it is when one of the Sunnah is deserted, and when something new that is not part of Islam is added.
 - The sin of innovation is renewed as long as it is performed on earth.
 - Innovation is the closest way for the Shaytaan to mislead man.
 - It causes the mixing between the truth and falsehood. Thus, young people will be confused and will not be able to differentiate between the truth and falsehood.
 - People who want to understand Islam will be reluctant to embrace it, because they think that Islam requires so many things which are beyond their scopes. Actually these requirements are innovations.
 - It is one of the shameful deeds. Innovating makes religion lose its basic features.
 - Innovating makes people have evil thinking about religion.
 - Innovating makes people deviate from the Straight Path. Thus,

((You must then follow my Sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it.))

[Abu Dawud, through Irbass Bin Sariyah]

To follow what you are ordered to is essential in Islam. Almighty Allah says,

﴾I but follow what is revealed to me by inspiration. ﴿

[Al-An'am: 50]

Conclusion:

The Master of all creatures and the beloved one followed what was revealed to him by inspiration. Therefore, we should not delete any one of the orders which we have to follow.

I ask Almighty Allah to help us turn all what I have mentioned so far into actions
