Lesson 25 – "O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations. "

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear noble brothers, we are discussing a new lesson of this series about the Ayaat that start with, "O you who believe…", and the Ayah today is the following:

(O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations.)

[Al-Ma'idah, 1]

Obligations in the Ayah refer to whatever contract you sign with anyone whether he is a Muslim or not, and you are obliged to fulfill it as long as it is signed according to Shari'ah rulings:

(O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations.)

[Al-Ma'idah, 1]

The scholars deduced a Shari'ah ruling from this Ayah, which is: Muslims are obliged to fulfill the terms and conditions of their contracts, because they are committed as Muslims to apply the Divine Way that orders them to fulfill their obligations:

(O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations.)

[Al-Ma'idah, 1]

Pay attention to this incident that happened before the Prophet, peace be upon him:

(Narrated Abdullah Ibn Amir: My mother called me one day when the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was sitting in our house. She said, "Come here and I shall give you something." The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) asked her, "What did you intend to give him?" She replied, "I intended to give him some dates." The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "If you were not to give him anything, a lie would be recorded against you.")

[Sunan Abi Dwood]

I repeat the Ayah:

(O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations.)

[Al-Ma'idah, 1]

If it is a contract of sale, its terms and conditions should be fulfilled. Allah the Almighty says:

(And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey),)

[An-Najm, 37]

Your success lies in fulfilling the covenant of Allah the Almighty. Allah the Almighty says:

(O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations.)

[Al-Ma'idah, 1]

Before you sign any contract, you should think of it attentively, because once it is signed, you have no choice but to fulfill its terms and conditions, and thus if you sign a contract of sale, you cannot cancel it.
In fact, when you fulfill your obligations, you will be elevated in Allah's Sight and in people's sight.
