Interpretation of the Quran- Surat Al-Mulk(067)- Lesson [1-7]- Ayat (1-2):

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear brother, we are going to start with the first lesson of the interpreting of surat Al-mulk.

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things."

[Al-Mulk]

Prophet Muhammad, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, referred to the benefits of this surah saying,

"I wish that 'Surat-Tabarak' could be in the heart of every believer. (it means that he wished that every believer could memorize it.)"

"Whoever reauthors Surat Al-Mulk every night has done very well."

[Narrated by Abu Hureirah.]

Whoever reauthors it every night will not be harmed by the tempter (fattân).
 Fattan here stands for Shytan.

The word Blessed means that His Generosity reaches its best. Allah shows us that He is the most Generous; His Ability is unlimited, that He created us to please us, and that He created us for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth.

The whole universe is created originally to please mankind, and it is created on the basis of nonstop giving. Hence, the word Blessed means that Allah’s Generosity is limitless. He is the Giver Who never stops giving. Whenever Allah gives, He would astonish mankind. What is required of you is to obey Him in your short worldly life so that you will live forever in Paradise as wide as are the havens and the earth. You are capable of obeying Him since this obedience fits your nature and monotheism,

"Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. "

[Surat Al- Baqarah: 286]

Obeying Allah makes you feel happy and safe from any harm. Also it is not beyond your scope, and it is the very reason of the endless giving until the Day of Resurrection. Thus, Allah says,

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

Allah wants to show us that He is the only Owner; this word is rich in meanings. Do not fear anyone as long as Allah is the Dominant. Ask none but Him, submit to none but Him and humiliate yourself to none but to Him, because all human beings were created weak, just like you,

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

He is the Owner of everything; the smallest and the hugest, the nearest and the farthest, the most serious and the most terrifying. He is the Owner of the fates of everything; He is the Creator of…

"Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.) over all things."

[Surat Az-Zumar: 62]

"Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!"

[Surat Al-A'raf: 54]

"They have no Wali (Helper, Disposer of affairs, Protector, etc.) other than Him, and He makes none to share in His Decision and His Rule."

[Surat Al-Kahf: 26 ]

"With Him (Allah). So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth)."

[Surat Hud: 55-56 ]

The forelock of every single living creature is in His Grasp; no matter how strong and dangerous this creature is.
Dear brother, if you have known the true meaning of monotheism, things would be different. Monotheism is one thing and believing in Allah, the Creator, is another; believing in Allah as the Creator of everything is a common ground between all creatures except few people who knew the righteous path and denied it although it is as clear as the sun. However, look what they say on the Day of Resurrection,

"By Allah, our Lord, we were not those who joined sh3er in worship with Allah."

[Surat Al- An’am: 23]

 Allah says,

"Look! How they lie against themselves! But the (lie) which they invented will disappear from them."

[Surat Al- An’am: 24]

Believing in Allah, the Creator, is one thing and believing in Him the Owner of everything and that all affairs return to Him is another,

"And to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him (O Muhammad ) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do."

[Surat Hud: 123]

O Allah, make us to benefit from our hearing, sight and power:
When you are pretty sure that all affairs return to Him, you will seek none but Him, supplicate none but Him, fear none but Him, trust none but Him, depend on none but on Him and be pleased with none but with Him.

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

O Allah, make us to benefit from our hearing, sight and power:

The movement of the human beings is the most accurate thing. Does anyone own his movement? If a drop of blood has clotted in one of the brain's vessels, it would cause paralysis. Thus, the movement is by the order of Allah. When someone is paralyzed, his closest relatives will wish he dies; they may express their wish by saying, " May Allah relieve us. " When someone loses his hearing, sight or his mind disturbs, his sons may ask for help to send him to the hospital of mental disorders.

Now you are enjoying mental capacity, sight, hearing and utterance. All these things are not yours; Allah is the Only One Who owns them. However, if you lower your gaze and cry out of fear of Allah, then you will ask Allah to keep your sight from all harm.

There are people who cry out of fear of Allah, lower their gaze, remember Allah all the time, listen to nothing but to the Noble Qur’an, go to the places where they can help other people and give their hands to whomever needs help. If all their senses and systems have been functioned to obey Allah, we hope that Allah would keep them safe the rest of their lives. This is exactly the meaning of the supplication of Prophet Muhammad, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him,

"O Allah, make us to benefit from our hearings, our sights, and our abilities, and make them our heirs (i.e., keep them strong until we die.)"

[Sunan Al-Tirmithi, through Ibn Omar]

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

The grace of having parents, children and home:

Who is the real owner of your family? He is Allah. You may find raising your children either easy or difficult:

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

Your children may be either a comfort for you or one of the disasters in your worldly life. One of the sings of the end of the worldly life is that the son will be disobedient to his parents, rain will fall abundantly, and the ignoble will increase, while the noble will decrease.

Whose is the house that you live in? Allah. The proof can be easily noticed with the case of an earthquake. If a five degree earthquake hits a city, it will turn the city upside down, its buildings will be totally destroyed and victims will be under the ruins. Such destruction takes few seconds to happen,

"Is not He (better than your gods) Who has made the earth as a fixed abode,"

[Surat An-Naml: 61]

Allah, Glory be to Him, makes earth fixed and stable, but He has the power to shake it and turn it upside down,

"Say: "He has power to send torment on you from above"

[Surat Al-An’am: 65]

Such as thunderbolts, volcanoes or bombs,

"Or from under your feet,"

[Surat Al-An’am: 65]

 Such as earthquakes, mines…etc

"Say: "He has power to send torment on you from above or from under your feet, or to cover you with confusion in party strife, and make you to taste the violence of one another." See how variously We explain the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), so that they may understand."

[Surat Al-An’am: 65]

Because mankinds is a tyrant when he seizes,

"And when you seize, seize you as tyrants?

[Surat Ash-Shu'ara':130]

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things."

Al- Mulk and al-Malakoot: (kingdom and supreme power

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

Blessed means His bestowal is limitless.

In Whose Hands is the dominion of all things; He is the Owner of everything. However, some scholars have made a difference between Al- Mulk and al-Malakoot,

"So Glorified is He and Exalted above all that they associate with Him, and in Whose Hands is the dominion of all things, and to Him you shall be returned."

[Surat Ya-sin: 83]

 Listen to this ayah,

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

Al-Mulk: refers to the physical aspects, while Al-Malakoot refers to the spiritual ones. Our Lord is exalted above the bad way of treating human souls, His limitless bestowal and His Ability in managing bodies are absolute,

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things."

The meanings of the word Tabarak "Blessed":

1- Tabarak "Blessed" means that Allah’s goodness is limitless.
2- Imam Al-Hasan, one of the scholars said that Tabarrak means Magnified which is derived from magnification and it means the glorification. These meanings indicate that Allah is exalted above everything that does not suit Him. It means that you glorify Him, submit to Him and obey Him.
3- Some interpretation scholars also said that Tabarak means the glorification referring to what is mentioned in following ayats:

"So Glorified is He and Exalted above all that they associate with Him, and in Whose Hands is the dominion of all things, and to Him you shall be returned."

[Surat Ya-sin: 83]

 And,

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion."

4- Some scholars said that Tabarak means that Allah is the Lasting (dâ'im) whose existence has no beginning and whose everlastingness has no end.

"Whose Hand is the dominion."

His dominance over the universe:

His dominance is over the whole universe. He owns the heavens and earth. I have told you in one of my lessons about a spacecraft that was sent to Jupiter seven years ago, and it went flying in space forty thousand miles per hour, the fastest speed ever. Yet, it reached that planet last year. That spacecraft had an observatory next to Jupiter by which the farthest galaxy was discovered.

This galaxy is three hundred thousand billion light years away from the earth. The nearest burning star is four light years away from us. The light travels three hundred thousand kilometers per second. How many meters the distance it covers per minute? How many meters the distance it covers per hour? How many meters the distance it covers per day? Per year? Per four years? Each one of you can calculate this using a calculator; multiply three hundred thousand by sixty, again by sixty, then by twenty four, after that by three hundred and sixty five, finally by four. Only then you will have an idea about how many meters this nearest burning star is far from earth.

Imagine that the road to this star is paved, and that you drive your car with a speed reaches one hundred. You can divide the number you get by one hundred, so the result you will get tells you how many hours you need to reach that star. Then, again divide it by twenty four to know how many days you will spend to get there. After that, divide this number by three hundred and sixty five. Finally, you will find that this number is about fifty million years. This means that if you want to travel to that star by your car, you will spend fifty million years travelling, although this star is only four light years far from us. How about the new galaxy which is three hundred thousand billion years away from us? One billion is one thousand million and three hundred thousand billion means three hundred thousand thousand million, i.e. three hundred with twelve zeros on its right. Can you imagine how far this star is? Allah says,

"So I swear by Mawaqi (setting or the mansions, etc.) of the stars (they traverse). And verily, that is indeed a great oath, if you but know. "

[Surat Al-Waqi’ah: 75-76]

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion."

Allah is the Owner of all galaxies. The latest studies have indicated that the universe includes about million million galaxies, and that each galaxy has about million million stars. These studies also have referred to the fact that some of the stars of the scorpion namely the heart of the scorpion is wide enough to contain both the sun and the earth with the distance between them. There are stars that are million times bigger than our sun although the sun itself is one million and three hundred thousand times bigger than the earth, Let alone the distance between the sun and the earth is more than one hundred and fifty six million kilometers. The star of scorpion’s heart can include both the sun and earth with the distance between them.

 Can anyone disobey Him?!!
Can anyone ignore His Generosity? His Paradise? His hellfire?!!
Do you prefer to obey your wife on the expense of obeying Him?!!
Do you prefer to obey your partner on the expense of obeying Him?!!
Do you prefer few pounds to Him? Do you sell your Islam for few pounds?!!
Do you prefer this mortal worldly life to the immortal paradise?!!
Do you prefer the worldly life to the hereafter?!!!

 Allah Most High says,

"They made not a just estimate of Allah such as is due to Him. And on the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be grasped by His Hand and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. Glorified is He, and High is He above all that they associate as partners with Him! "

[Surat az-Zumar: 67 ]

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion."

He is the Owner of everything; the smallest and the hugest things.

The Owner of the smallest and the hugest:

The sperm, for instance, cannot be seen with the eye and over five million sperm cells come out from the male genital organ in each sexual intercourse. The sperm is located in its nucleus; it is a cell that has a cover, flagellum and nucleus. The nucleus contains over one million of orders and programmed information. Nowadays the most controversial issue is the genetic engineering, cloning, and other unseen parts of the body which form human body, its characteristics, blood, organs and abilities.

You will never be able to count the hugest things in the universe nor the smallest ones.

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion."

Everything is in His Hand; from the smallest atom to the biggest one in the atomic system. This system is similar to the solar one. However, the atoms have a world by their own; Allah says,

"They all float, each in an orbit."

[Surat Ya-Sin: 40]

Each atom has electrons that floats around the nucleus in an amazing system and incredible speed.

"It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah. ”

[Fatir 35:28]

"And also in your own selves. Will you not then see? "

The bones of the hearing: Auditory ossicles

The smallest bones in the human body are the auditory ossicles. There are three ossicles connected to the tympanum, do you know what their functions are? One of these functions is raising the voice volume twenty times. human being receives sound waves through the pavilion, and then these waves enter the auditory canal to the tympanic membrane, which is connected to those bones. In addition to raising the voice these ossicles have another function; if you hear a very loud voice that may penetrate the tympanic membrane, these ossicles will immediately lower it. They raise the lower voices and lower the loud ones at the same time to protect the ear from any harm and keep it safe; lowering the voices and raising them simultaneously is a function that can never be accomplished by any electric device. You see how the ear itself is a sign of Allah’s innumerous Signs. No one has an idea how human being is able to differentiate between melody and noise although both of them are sounds; where listening to the melody is interesting while hearing a noise is not!

The eye:

It is said that the tears are purifying and slippery materials which melt the germs and nourish the eye. They are produced by glands in a huge quantity that they need a wasting canal, namely the lachrymal canal. This canal will transform into a wetting material in the nose, which has twisting surfaces where the air goes through, so all the germs will stick to these wetting surfaces. Explaining everything about the eye is a long story. The retina itself is a wide subject to discuss; there are about one hundred thirty bacillus and cones in the retina. The cones are divided into three parts; the first part is for the green color, the second one is for the blue color and the last one is for the red color. These colors may mix, and they send a signal to the brain. So, the light which goes through the cones and bacillus will interact with them both.

An electric current will result from this interaction that is sent to the brain in order to read the pictures. You see how we may spend a long time talking about the eye, the ear and the nose…etc. Allah created man of the best stature, but since scientists want to change Allah’s creation, they will pay a very high price. It is more likely that when the human being turns away from the Divine Revelation, he destroys himself. Humanity is suffering from many incurable diseases such as AIDS which is the consequence of the deterioration of family ties and morals. It also suffers from drugs and crimes which are widely spread nowadays. All these disasters are consequences of going astray and turning away from the Divine Revelation and Allah’s Way,

"And who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, without guidance from Allah? Verily! Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (wrong-doers, disobedient to Allah, and polytheists). "

[Surat Al-Qasas: 50]

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things."

"and He is Able to do all things."

 It means that He honors whomever He wants, and He humiliates whomever He wants. I believe that the most honorable man ever is Prophet Muhammad, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him; this is the truth. Allah is the One and Only Who gives lives to people and takes their lives, the One Who makes some people rich and other poor, and Who gives some people and deprives sh3er. This is the meaning of;

"and He is Able to do all things."

Every one of you wants to survive, to be honored, to be rich, and to be sound and safe. All these things are in Allah’s Hand.

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things."

As long as you turn away from Allah's Way, you will never find happiness, because Allah says,

"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest"

[Surat Ar-Ra’d: 28]

It means that hearts will never find rest unless they remember Allah.

"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'an nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection."

[Surat Ta-Ha: 124]

If you meet someone who turns away from Allah’s Reminder and think that he is happy, then you are deceived, and you will be ignoring the following ayah,

"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'an nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship"

"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest"

 5- Some scholars said:

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion"

Dominion here means that Allah owns the prophecy. He gave the prophecy to this great Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him. Allah honors those who follow him and humiliates those who turn away from him. This is Islam; you reauthor in al-Qunoot Du’a the following: "O Allah, Glory be to Him, whom You patron, should never be humiliated, and whom You make as enemy, should never be honored." Hence, Allah’s enemies are always humiliated,

"Allah has decreed: "Verily! It is I and My Messengers who shall be the victorious." Verily, Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty. "

[Surat Al-Mujadilah: 21]

"Consider not that Allah is unaware of that which the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.) do, but He gives them respite up to a Day when the eyes will stare in horror."

[Surat Ibrahim: 42]

Allah is the Most Honored, The Mighty

When you are honored by Allah, this honor will last forever
Yet, your honor will fade away if it is derived from mortals

* * *

Dear brother, everything is in Allah’s Hand starting from the smallest cell in your body to the hugest one. Who controls the growing of the cells? Absolutely Allah does. Scientists of the genetic engineering have discovered that the gene which is responsible for the cancer can be activated and deactivated. Every human being has this gene in his body, but it either becomes active or stays inactive. This gene is in the Hand of Allah, The Almighty. No medicine for the cancer has been discovered yet. Genetics and the genetic engineering are very wide subjects, but here we are referring to the fact that scientists have discovered that some orders are responsible for the cancer gene. These orders are in the Hand of Allah. Who will activate these genes? Who will keep them inactive? Definitely Allah, Glory be to Him, will.

"Who has created death and life,."

[Surat Al-Mulk: 2]

Allah created death; we live to die and die to live again. We live in this worldly life but death is our destiny. Every creature dies except Allah, The Mighty and The Compeller,

No matter how long the night is, a new day is coming.
No matter how long you live, your grave is waiting.

------

Every mother’s son no matter how healthy he is,
will be carried in his coffin.

When you carry this coffin to its grave,
remember that one day you will be carried.

* * *

The reasonable person is the one who keeps working hard for this Hour. There must be a day when you get out of your home and never come back. When you die, you will not be out of your home on your feet; you will be carried on sh3er’ shoulders. This Hour is the destiny of all of us; no one is an exception. Who is working for this hour? You should work hard for it by doing good deeds, obeying Allah and increasing your remembrance to Him.

"Who has created death and life"

We live then we die in order to live eternally; this is the first meaning of this ayah.

Why does Allah mention death before life in this ayah???

1- Some scholars said that Allah mentioned death before life, because the clearest aspect of mankind’s submission is death. O Allah You make Your creatures submitted by death. Everyone gets older, but one day he will leave this worldly life and will be humiliated by death. Death is one of the greatest Graces of Allah; it could be a cover and grace for you. however, the Du'a of the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him,

"O Allah! cause me to live so long as my life is better for me ; and cause me to die where death is better for me."

[Sahih Bukhari, through Anas Bin Malek]

You should leave your affairs to Allah, but the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said,

"The best of people is one whose life is long and his conduct is good."

The Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, praised those who live a long life working hard for the hereafter. The first meaning is that Allah mentions death before life because death humiliates mankind while life does not. The new-born baby is not humiliated when he is born, for life opens its arms for him, whereas in death mankind will lose everything he gathers in one second. He will be zero handed; he will lose even his golden tooth, every piece of furniture at his home and all his properties. All these things will be taken from him. Some people say that the one who is alive is better, but he will descend the grave empty handed leaving all his money behind.

2- Allah mentions death before life because man lives in life having many choices presented to him, while when he dies, "I swear by Whom my life is in His Hand, there is no abode after the worldly abode except Paradise or Hell." He has a difficult choice; either paradise or hell. This is the second meaning.

3- The third meaning: the Prophet, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, said,

"Allah, The Greatest, humiliated mankind by death, He made the worldly life the home where life is followed by death, and He made the hereafter the home where punishment and reward are, then He made it the home of eternity."
Life and death, punishment and eternity, that is why it is narrated that, "Work for your worldly life as much as you live in it, work for your hereafter as much as your position is in it, fear hellfire as much as you bear it and work for Allah as much as you need Him."

What is death?

Dear brother, death is neither an absolute absence nor a relative one, but it is the separation of the body from the self and the soul. Your body is your container and your self is your essence. There is a moving power inside you; it is your soul. Yourself tastes death, i.e. it takes off the container, inside which it lies. Death is not absence; it is a transformation from one situation to another. The proof of what I am saying can be noticed with the case of the martyr who is covered with his blood; do you remember what Allah says about him?

"Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision."

[Surat Aal-Imran: 169]

When prophet Muhammad, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, and his companions defeated the hard-hearted disbelievers of Quraish in the battle of Badr, the prophet addressed the dead one by one calling them by their names saying,
"O so-and-so, so-and-so, (calling them by their names, one by one) have you found what your Lord has promised you to be true? Verily, I have found that what my Lord has promised me is true. You belied me, but people believed me; you hurt me, but people supported me; you expelled me, but people received (and quartered) me Some Companions said: O Allah's Messenger! You are speaking to dead bodies. They are all corpses. What's the use of speaking to them?! He said: They are listening to me better than you are, but they cannot answer."
Thus, death is not the end of life, on the contrary it is the beginning of the eternal life. The proof is in the following ayah,

"He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. And none will bind as He will bind."

[Surat Al-Fajr: 24-25-26]

"Who has created death and life"

We live to die, then die to live again. Death puts an end to the worldly life, while eternity puts an end to the hereafter. The worldly life is the abode of labor, while the hereafter is the one for reward and punishment. The worldly life is the abode of onus, whereas the hereafter is the abode of honor. The worldly life is limited, the hereafter on the other hand is limitless. What the worldly life has taken from the hereafter is as small as the quantity of sea water which wets the head of the needle when it touches it. When a believer dies he will move from the narrowness of the worldly life to the width of the hereafter just like the embryo when he gets out of the narrowness of the womb to the width of the worldly life,

"Who has created death and life, that He may test you"

That he may test you, for the reason of our existence in the earth is to be tested; the proof can be noticed in the following,

"For sure We are ever putting (men) to the test."

[Surat Al-Mu'minun: 30]

"Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested."

[Surat Al-Ankabut: 2]

Your characteristics will be turned into deeds; the generous shows his generosity, The villain shows his villainy, the miser shows his misery, the straight shows his straightness, the deviated shows his deviation, the honest shows his honesty and the liar shows his lie.

Dear brother, life shows what is inside everyone of us; this is a kind of testing people.

"For sure We are ever putting (men) to the test."

"Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested."

[Surat Al-Mu'minun: 30]

Good deed is the reason of our existence; people are types:

There is a wonderful deduction saying that mankind was created to do good deeds. These deeds are the price of paradise, so when you die you will not feel sorry for anything except the lack of your good deeds:

"He says: "My Lord! Send me back, So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!"

[Surat Al-Mu'minun:99-100]

The crucial point is that the reason of your existence is doing good deeds that will be exposed in front of Allah, so that you may enter paradise:

"Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed."

Your mineral will be clear through trials; there is gold of twenty four carats, twenty one, eighteen, sixteen and eleven carats. Also there is copper that is painted with gold, there is copper that is polished and there is a cheap metal. Similarly, people are minerals. I once saw a piece of jewelry in a museum that I was told it costs one hundred and forty million dollars. This piece of jewelry is the biggest in Istanbul. It is originally a piece of coal; if you get a piece of coal and compare between both pieces, you will notice that this piece of jewelry and the one of the coal have the same origin, yet, one of them is a piece of jewelry and the other is a piece of coal. Likewise, people are not alike; you may meet a person who is just like an expensive piece of jewelry due to his morals, justice, piety, mercy and his love to good deeds. This man is a source of giving and a source of security for people. You may also meet another person who lives on the decays of people, just like mosses, makes people impoverish in order to increase his wealth and causes people death, so that he will survive. Hence, people are minerals,

"Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed."

Someone may draw near to Allah after getting married, whereas another may turn away from Him and become wicked. Some people travel abroad and deviate from Allah's Path, while sh3er draw nearer to It. Imam Shafi’i said, "Travelling makes pious man becomes more pious, and makes the evil-doers become more evil." Some people may deviate from Allah once they become rich, while sh3er increase their good deeds; someone may disobey Allah as soon as he loses his fortune, while another one may become patient with his poverty. So, you are tested every single minute; you are tested by what Allah has given you and what he has abstained from giving you. Allah is testing you by everything you are given. If you are given wealth, you will be tested by it, if you are predestined to be poor, you will be tested by this poverty, if you are given beauty, you will be tested by it, if you are not given beauty, you will be tested by your lack of beauty, if you are given fluency, you will be tested by it and if you are not given fluency, then you will be tested by your work. Although you may not be given this fluency and you are a good man, then you will succeed.

"Who has created death and life"

You are given a wife by whom you are tested, will you control her behavior? Will you make her recognize the Way of Allah or will you let her do whatever she likes as long as she pleases you? You are tested by your children, your movement and your steadiness every single second,

"Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed."

The ayah is very precise, therefore, as I have said at the very beginning, the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah have peace and blessings upon him, wished that Tabarak could be in the heart of every believer.

"Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed."

 You are tested,

"For sure We are ever putting (men) to the test."

[Surat Al-Mu'minun: 30]

 You are observed,

"Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them)."

[Surat Al-Fajr: 14]

"Surely, Allah is Ever an All-Watcher over you."

[Surat An-Nisa’: 1]

Allah is watching you; He is watching how you treat your wife, your parents and your children… etc. He is watching how you treat an ignorant person comes to you asking for your advice, for he trusts you. Are you going to advise him? Or are you going to cheat on him? Or blackmail him because he has money? Who knows your intentions? Only Allah does. You are tested by everything; every movement, steadiness, giving, deprivation, connecting the family ties, and disconnecting the family ties. Also you are tested by your anger and your satisfaction,

"Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed."

Let me give you an example, if someone needs your help, but he comes to you in an inconvenient time, will you ask him to get out? Will you help him because you think that Allah drives him to you? You are tested, will you help him or not? You should remind yourself that you are tested every single moment, in every situation, everywhere and every time. If a beautiful deviated woman passes by you, then you are tested by her. Will you look at her? Or will you lower your gaze because you want to taste the sweetness of straightness until you meet Allah. Life is beautiful but the strife is awake, so you are tested in this worldly life. Congratulation to those who pass the test, to those who reach Allah through obeying Him,

"Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed."

O Allah! Help me to continue the interpretation of this surah in the next lesson, insha’a Allah.
