" O you who believe! Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he (SAW) calls you to that which will give you life,"

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear noble brothers, we are discussing a new lesson of this series about the Ayaat that start with, "O you who believe…", and today's Ayah is:

(O you who believe! Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he (SAW) calls you to that which will give you life, and know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart (i.e. He prevents an evil person to decide anything). And verily to Him you shall (all) be gathered.)

[Al-Anfal, 24]

The first point is that man swings between two stances. When he is ordered by Allah the Almighty to offer Salah, to observe Siyaam (fasting), to perform Hajj (pilgrimage), to pay Zakat (alms-giving), to be honest and to be trustworthy, he takes one of two stances as an individual; either he responds, or he does not respond to these orders. As an Ummah, if the group of Muslims respond to Allah's Order, this Ummah will become the best of people ever raised up for mankind. Allah the Almighty says:

(You (true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind;)

[Aal-'Imran, 110]

The reason behind deserving this superiority is:

(You enjoin Al- Maroof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allah).

[Aal-'Imran, 110]

( But if they answer you not (i.e. do not believe in your doctrine of Islamic Monotheism, nor follow you), then know that they only follow their own lusts ).

[Al-Qasas, 50]

The precise meaning here is that you should take one of two stances: either you respond to Allah the Almighty, or you follow your lusts, and either way, you should take a stance.
