Friday Sermon (1006): s1- Acts which make deeds worthless according to the Noble Qur'an, s2, The importance of the media

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings upon Sayyidina Muhammad, the honest and the trustworthy. Oh, Allah, we know nothing but what You teach us. You are the All- Knower, the Wise. Oh Allah, teach us what is good for us, and benefit us from what You taught us, and increase our knowledge. Show us the righteous things as righteous and help us to do them, and show us the bad things as bad and help us to keep away from them. O Allah our lord make us amongst those who listen to the Word and follow the best meaning of it, and admit us, by Thy Grace, to the ranks of Thy righteous Servants.

The momentous subjects

Dear brother, first of all, there are some topics which you read, you hear about, you listen to, or you see, but when they end, you just yawn and go to sleep, because they are only silly subjects (or meaningless) which have no real benefit and which do not affect your future. On the other hand, there are other subjects which if you read, if you hear about, or if you see then they end, your worries begin, because these subjects make you face your responsibilities.
Therefore we can say that there are serious momentous and worrisome topics and there are secondary topics, just as the innumerable diseases which affect man but he does not care too much about them, he only goes to the doctor and takes the medicine then he recovers after a while. However, there are some dangerous, fatal and incurable diseases which cause death. For example, when a cancerous tumor is diagnosed, the patient never sleeps at night because it is an incurable fatal disease which causes death. With regards to the Islamic religion, there are some acts which make deeds worthless, and I made an introduction to them last lecture. I should mention here the following Noble Ayah in which Allah the Almighty says:

"And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust."

[Furqan, 23]

And I should also mention the Noble Hadith in which the Prophet PBUH said:

"Some people of my nation will come On the Day of Resurrection with righteous deeds which are as great as the mountains of Tuhama, however Allah will make their deeds as scattered floating particles of dust" Thawbaan said: O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us, in order not to be among them, the Prophet PBUH said: " they are Muslims like you, they are your fellow citizens, and they perform night prayers as you do, but when they are alone they transgress the limits ordained by Allah".

[Ibn Majah]

So, the subject of today's lecture is about the fateful worrisome topics, because making the good deeds fruitless means being full of misery in this worldly life and in the Hereafter, it also means entering the Hell forever and ever, and it means that all the righteous deeds you have performed during your life will become as scattered floating particles of dust. For example, if a man had worshipped Allah for 60 years, then he made an unfair bequest before his death, he will enter the Hellfire because of that. So, we will start today's lecture with the following words of our master Hudhayfah Ibn Al-Yaman may Allah be pleased with him:" The companions of the Prophet PBUH used to ask him about the good, while I used to ask him about the evil fearing that it might overtake me"
So, the subject of today's lecture depends on the logical thinking, the deep understanding and the apprehensiveness of our master Hudhayfah may Allah be pleased with him.

Acts which make good deeds worthless according to the Qur'an

So, our subject today is the acts which make deeds worthless and which were mentioned in the Noble Qur'an. Actually, they are about eleven acts.

The first act: hating what Allah has sent down

Allah the Almighty says:

"That is because they hate that which Allah has sent down (this Quran and Islamic laws, etc.), so He has made their deeds fruitless."

[Muhammad, 9]

The first sign is that someone performs the five prayers, fasts, performs Hajj, and pays Zakah, but he hates the prohibition of mixing between men and women, he hates the prohibition of the investment of funds with interest, and he hates to avoid the prohibited things in Islam. Furthermore, he considers abstaining from them as a burden on him. I assure you that as soon as man hates what Allah has sent (Allah's Orders), he is as far away from understanding the reality of Islam as the distance between the heavens and the earth. Consider the following example which I've mentioned a lot, if you are walking in the wilderness then you see a plaque on which was written: " A minefield, do no pass through", if you are fully rational, you will believe that this plaque does not limit your freedom, rather it ensures your safety. So, there is a big difference between considering the prohibition as limitation and restriction to man's freedom, and believing that it is an insurance to his safety. Thus, as long as you hate what Allah has revealed; i.e. what Allah has ordained like the prohibition of mixing between men and women, the prohibition of depositing money in banks, and the prohibition of insurance and so on, as long as you believe that these prohibited matters are necessities and are basic needs which lead to a flourishing and exquisite life, and as long as you believe that it is too hard to apply the Islamic law as it restricts and limits your freedom, then your righteous deeds will become worthless. Do not accept any single word of mine without a proof, as no one on the surface of the earth dares to say a single word about Islam according to his own opinion. The proof is mentioned in the following Noble Ayah:

"That is because they hate that which Allah has sent down (this Quran and Islamic laws, etc.), so He has made their deeds fruitless."

[Muhammad, 9]

In Arabic language, the meaning of ' Ihbat' the deed (making the deed worthless) is that when you say that a camel is ' Muhbat' that means it grazes on a poisoned pasture, then it swells and swells till it dies. Likewise, the good deed may become worthless according to the Noble Qur'an. Allah the Almighty says:

"and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You,"

[Al-Ahqaf, 15]

When does the good deed please Allah the Almighty? That is when it is performed for the Sake of Allah alone, when you seek Allah's Face, when the deed is free from the obvious and the hidden Shirk (polytheism), and when the deed is performed according to the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH, so these are two absolutely inseparable conditions which none can be a substitute for the other.
Consider the example of a man who has a good intention, he holds a singing party and devotes its revenue to charity, actually, this good deed is worthless because although that man has a good intention, but this act is against the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH.
Also, if a man holds a charitable lottery, even if he has a good intention, this act contradicts the Method of Allah the Almighty.
So, you should ponder on the following words carefully: the righteous deed is not accepted unless it is pure and right; that is to say the deed is pure when it is performed for the Sake of Allah alone, and it is right when it is in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH.
Thus, the deed becomes worthless either because of its form, because of the way by which it was performed or because of the doer's intention. For example, if a man performs good righteous deeds, while his intention is not purely for Allah, but he was seeking this worldly life, these deeds become fruitless because he did not perform them for the Sake of Allah. However, that does not mean that he will not be rewarded in this worldly life, because there is no one who does his best in this life but Allah will reward him in it.
In conclusion, the good deed becomes worthless for two reasons; when it is not performed purely for the Sake of Allah, and when it is against the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH. Hence, just as when the deed contradicts the Method of Allah the Almighty, and just as when it is mixed with hidden or apparent Shirk (polytheism) it is not accepted, and this is one of the acts which make deeds worthless.

Second act: following what displeases Allah the Almighty

Now, the second act is following what displeases Allah the Almighty. So, hating what Allah has reveled makes the deed worthless, and following what displeases Him also makes the deed worthless. Consider the Noble Ayah below:

"That is because they followed that which angered Allah, and hated that which pleased Him. So He made their deeds fruitless."

[Muhammad, 28]

Actually, the angels strike the faces and the backs of those whom Allah has made their deeds fruitless because the face (the frontal lobe) is the place in which the mental manipulation takes place, and it is the center of love and hate sensation. Also, the angels strike their backs because they turned away from obeying Allah the Almighty. So the angels smite their faces and backs.

The third act: imitating the people of misguidance:

Actually, this is the most dangerous act, which is a widespread matter among the Islamic world exactly as the way the fire spreads in the dry stalks. So the third act is imitating the misguided people.
Consider the following Noble Ayah carefully:

"Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion awhile as those before you enjoyed their portion awhile;"

[At-Tawbah, 69]

They are extremely powerful, fairly clever and enormously wealthy nations, they have technology, civilization, beauty, wealth, media, widespread lusts everywhere, illicit desires which could be fulfilled easily and without being called to account, beautiful life, nightclubs, theaters, women who are dressed yet appear to be naked, porn movies, satellite TV, and so on. So, those disbelievers in the western countries have enjoyed their portion, and they have enjoyed their share of this worldly life enormously. Allah the Almighty says:

"Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion awhile as those before you enjoyed their portion awhile;"

[At-Tawbah, 69]

Which means the imitation of any desirable thing from the disbeliever; that is to say their lifestyles, behavioral patterns, celebrations, evening parties, meetings, visits, travel and tourism, as the western-style of life is extremely widespread in the world through the media communication. Therefore when you go to many Muslim countries, you find mosques in which Muslims perform the prayers, but as for their everyday life, it is like the life of the disbelievers in the western countries. Consider the following Noble Ayah which has a very precise meaning:

"Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion awhile as those before you enjoyed their portion awhile; and you indulged in play and pastime (and in telling lies against Allah and His Messenger Muhammad PBUH) as they indulged in play and pastime."

[At-Tawbah, 69]

Most TV programs which are broadcasted (in our media) are derived from the Western world, i.e. these immoral programs which stimulate illicit desires and lusts, which induce young people to commit endless sins, and which turn houses into nightclubs. Moreover, people are keen to watch these programs to the extent that sometimes the calls people made to these programs are about sixty-eight million calls during only twenty days, while this huge amount of money is sufficient to solve our nation's problems even if they cost billions of pounds. Allah the Almighty says:

"Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion awhile as those before you enjoyed their portion awhile; and you indulged in play and pastime (and in telling lies against Allah and His Messenger Muhammad PBUH) as they indulged in play and pastime. Such are they whose deeds are in vain in this world and in the Hereafter. "

[At-Tawbah, 69]

Dear brother, this is really an alarming matter. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet PBUH said:

"You would tread the same path as was trodden by those before you inch by inch and step by step so much so that if they had entered into the hole of the lizard, you would follow them in this also. We said: Allah's Messenger, do you mean Jews and Christians (by your words)" those before you"? He said: Who else (than those two religious groups)?"

[Ibn Majah]

Muslim women are wearing the western designs which may be created by a Jewish clothes designer; these popular fashions which we imitate expose the woman's body, like the tight and the short clothes which exhibit the woman's beauty, . Verily, that is the meaning of:

" so that if they had entered into the hole of the lizard, you would follow them in this also."

All the latest fashions are transmitted to us within only two weeks, and they spread over our lifestyles. we imitate them with regards to their fashions, their parties, etc… this is called blind imitation, while we neglect the Method of Our Lord, we neglect our religion, we neglect the Divine Method which exalted us to the highest ranks, and we neglect the Divine Method which made us the leaders of the nations after we were sheep herders.
Dear brother, consider the third Noble Ayah below:

"Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion awhile as those before you enjoyed their portion awhile; and you indulged in play and pastime (and in telling lies against Allah and His Messenger Muhammad PBUH) as they indulged in play and pastime. Such are they whose deeds are in vain in this world and in the Hereafter. Such are they who are the losers. "

[At-Tawbah, 69]

To summarize, some of the acts which make the deed fruitless are to hate what Allah has revealed, to follow what displeases Him, and to imitate the rich and the powerful disbelievers in the world, that is to say to make their ways of life, their behavior, their celebrations, and their lifestyles your method in life. for example, any hotel is not considered a five-star one unless it offers wine, as if it is a sacred disputable law that cannot be violated, so if you say a five-star hotel, it should offer wine.

Fourth Act: disbelieving and hindering from Allah's Path:

Allah the Almighty says:

"Verily, those who disbelieve, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah (i.e. Islam), and oppose the Messenger ( PBUH) (by standing against him and hurting him), after the guidance has been clearly shown to them, they will not hurt Allah in the least, but He will make their deeds fruitless,"

[Muhammad, 32]

I'll author the Ayat of the Noble Qur'an in which the word 'Ihbat' (making the good deed fruitless) is mentioned. Actually, they are about eleven Ayat.
Dear brother, Allah the Almighty says:

"Verily, those who disbelieve, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah (i.e. Islam), and oppose the Messenger ( PBUH) (by standing against him and hurting him)"

[Muhammad, 32]

Opposing the Prophet PBUH during his life is to fight him, to accuse him of lying, and to mock his call, but opposing the Prophet PBUH after his death is to despise the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH and his method, and to consider his method as a disputable matter that was suitable only for the ancient days, not for our life nowadays. So, refuting the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH is encompassed in this Ayah, and opposing the Prophet PBUH after his death is to refute his Sunnah, to refute some of its matters which you assume to be negative, or to think that this method does not fit our life nowadays. But indeed they will never harm Allah at all. The Prophet PBUH said that Allah the Almighty says in a Qudsi Hadith:

"O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of the Jinns too in unison become the most wicked (all beating) like the heart of a single person, it would cause no loss to My Power."

[Muslim ]

Fifth Act:, being impolite to the Prophet and raising one's voice above his

Allah the Almighty says:

"O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet (PBUH), nor speak aloud to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds may be rendered fruitless while you perceive not."

[Al-Hujurat, 2]

This Ayah is completely clear, when the Prophet PBUH was alive, raising one's voice above the Prophet's voice made the good deed worthless. It was narrated in the biography books of the Prophet PBUH that some noble companions used to have loud voices but they did not mean to be impolite to the Prophet PBUH, so they feared that their good deeds would be lost and they wept bitter tears ofremorse, but the Prophet PBUH reassured them (because they did not do that intentionally). So, Allah the Almighty teaches us how to be polite to the Prophet PBUH, and to his Sunnah. In fact, as long as you say that the Prophet's method is not suitable for our life nowadays, as long as you discuss and evaluate it as if it is a worldly method which was made by people, not by the Creator of mankind, as long as you put it as a matter of discussion and try to find some negative sides and obstacles in it, as long as you say that some matters in this method do not suit your life and you should develop the Islamic jurisprudential laws completely, as long as you make lawful what is prohibited in the Sunnah, and as long as you consider the method of the Prophet PBUH as any man-made discussable method that could be put under refutation, cancellation and objection, then you are raising your voice above the voice of the Prophet PBUH, and you are considering the method of the Prophet PBUH as any man-made method.

The Excellence of Allah's Word above His creatures' words is like His Excellence above His creatures. So, you should not think that the method of the Prophet PBUH is like any man-made method which is is allowable to be discussed. , this method is quite different as it is made by the Creature of mankind and from the infallible Prophet PBUH whom was protected by Allah from committing any err with regards to his sayings, his actions, and his approval. Thus, this method is not discussable or disputable, rather you should only think how to apply it, how to shape your life according to it and how to give it the final ruling on everything. Allah the Almighty says:

"But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad PBUH) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission."

[An-Nisa, 65]

So, raising one's voice above the voice of the Prophet PBUH after his death has another meaning; that is to say to call for mixing between men and women, and to call for abolishing some of the Islamic laws which you think are not suitable for our life nowadays, or which you feel ashamed of , or you think that other people (the disbelievers) will not accept them, as you seek their pleasure and satisfaction.
Dear brother, Allah the Almighty says:

"O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet (PBUH), nor speak aloud to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds may be rendered fruitless while you perceive not."

[Al-Hujurat, 2]

Actually, the most serious diseases of all are those which have no symptoms, like the malignant tumor which has no symptoms at all, but suddenly man discovers that it is at the fifth degree , which means it has become a fatal disease. On the other hand, any other disease which has severe symptoms is so easy to be diagnosed and treated. Likewise, you do not feel about some diseases (like doubt, hypocrisy, and so on) which grow and grow inside man till he thinks that this religion does not fit our life, furthermore some people think that Islam should be restricted to ritual acts of worship in mosques, and it is not applicable to our life, and they think that it causes division among people. It is like the poet who said mockingly at the beginning of the renaissance era:

Peace be upon a Kafr (disbelieve) which brings us together
And after that the Hellfire is warmly welcomed!
***

Dear brother, we back the national unity and everything which helps to increase our power, however we are against rejecting the method of Allah the Almighty, as it is applicable at every time and in every place, furthermore it respects the other party (the disbelievers) and accepts them. So, there is no worry that if we apply the method of Allah, this will destroy our nation's unity. But whenever the enemies of Islam hear about applying the method of Allah, nothing comes to their minds except cutting off the thief's hand, although there is no serious problem in the world which destroys human societies such as theft, as it leads to accumulate the world's wealth in the hands of the richest people who are about 10% of people, and who enjoy lavish lifestyles which are beyond the limits of your imagination, while 90% of people are suffering severe and extreme poverty, unemployment, underdevelopment, and extreme deprivation. Our master Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, said: " Poverty has almost reached the state of disbelief"

Sixth act: the apostasy (turning back from Islam to disbelief):

Dear brother, another terrible act which is exactly like the malignant diseases is the apostasy from Islam to disbelief. Allah the Almighty says:

"And whosoever of you turns back from his religion and dies as a disbeliever, then his deeds will be lost in this life and in the Hereafter."

[Al-Baqarah, 217]

To repeat again what I've mentioned earlier, the good deed becomes fruitless when it lacks sincerity, that is to say when the good deeds are as great as mountains, however they were performed while man was seeking merely this worldly life; i.e. was seeking reputation and exaltedness on earth. Or when the deeds were originally decadent, like building nightclubs which contribute to mislead young people and corrupt their morals. Allah the Almighty says:

"And whosoever of you turns back from his religion and dies as a disbeliever, then his deeds will be lost in this life and in the Hereafter, and they will be the dwellers of the Fire. They will abide therein forever."

[Al-Baqarah, 217]

Dear brother, Allah the Almighty addressed the Prophet PBUH, the master of all creatures and the beloved of the Truth saying:

"If you join sh3er in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain,"

[Az-Zumar, 65]

Although the Prophet PBUH was addressed by this Ayah, the scholars said that it is impossible for the Prophet to apostatize from Islam to disbelief, but Allah the Almighty clarifies to us through this Ayah that Shirk (polytheism) and apostasy are extremely dangerous matters, even if the Noble Prophet PBUH himself had joined sh3er in worship with Allah, his good deeds would have become worthless. It is just like when one of the companions asked the Prophet PBUH to mutilate the disbelievers' bodies (after the battle of Uhud as they mutilated the body of his uncle Hamzah) but the Prophet PBUH said:

" I do not mutilate their bodies so Allah would do the same thing for me even if I am a prophet ."

According to some scholars, the Ayat which are addressed to the Prophet PBUH are addressed to his nation unless there is any indication that they are addressed to the Prophet PBUH in particular. So, the one who apostatizes from Islam to disbelief, all his good deeds will become fruitless. Actually, this apostasy may happen in one's mind without saying any word, that is to say when man believes that Islam is not suitable for our life and that it is a futile method. Thus, when man thinks so, he is considered an apostate one way or another.
Dear brother, some scholars said: "whoever apostatizes from Islam to disbelief then returns to Islam, he will not lose the reward of his last deeds which he performed when he was Muslim and which became worthless because of apostasy." Actually, this is out of Allah's Mercy on people. On the other hand, if a man repents then apostatizes from Islam, he will be called to account for the sins which were forgiven by his repentance. I'll repeat these precise words again: if a man believes in Allah then apostatizes from Islam, then he will be held accountable for his forgiven sins, while if the one who apostatizes from Islam returns to it, he will be exempt from the deeds which he would have been held accountable for them.
Some scholars said: "The heart which has tasted the sweetness of faith will never turn away from it, and the one who has known the truth will never leave it"
When someone follows Islam in a superficial way, or when he follows Islam to achieve some gains, then this superficial Islam may be followed by apostasy, while the one who is a real Muslim, who has tasted the sweetness of faith, and who has tasted the sweetness of being close to Allah the One and the Judge, will never apostatize from the Method of Allah the Almighty.

Seventh act: Hypocrisy

Dear brother, hypocrisy makes the good deeds fruitless. Allah the Almighty says:

"Allah already knows those among you who keep back (men) from fighting in Allah's Cause, and those who say to their brethren "Come here towards us," while they (themselves) come not to the battle except a little. * Being miserly towards you (as regards help and aid in Allah's Cause). Then when fear comes, you will see them looking to you, their eyes revolving like (those of) one over whom hovers death, but when the fear departs, they will smite you with sharp tongues, miserly towards (spending anything in any) good (and only covetous of booty and wealth). Such have not believed. Therefore Allah makes their deeds fruitless, and that is ever easy for Allah. * They think that AlAhzab (the Confederates) have not yet withdrawn, and if AlAhzab (the Confederates) should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the bedouins, seeking news about you (from a far place); and if they (happen) to be among you, they would not fight but little."

[Al-Ahzab, 18-20]

Hypocrisy makes good deeds worthless as the hypocrite is not a real believer, but being with the believers is for his benefit, so he pretends to be a Muslim to take some advantage. Actually, hypocrisy is worse than Kufr (disbelief). Allah the Almighty says:

"Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire; "

[An-Nisa, 145]

Dear brother, Qatada mentioned some of the hypocrites characteristics, he said: " when the fear departs, they will smite you with sharp tongues, and at the time of dividing the spoils they are the stingiest people, they ask people to give them more and more from the spoils assuming that they had witnessed the battle with them, while when the war erupts, they are the most cowardly people, and they let down the right."
one way or another, at the time of dividing the spoils you find the hypocrite in the first row, while at the time of hardship you never find him at all, he only cares about his own interests. While the disbeliever declares his Kufr explicitly, so he could be respected one way or another because he is clear, he never cheats you, and he says to you clearly that he never believes in Islam, so you will not be influenced by his thoughts, and he will not cause any problem to you as his obvious ideas lead you to avoid him. Also, the believer is clear and transparent, while the hypocrite's deeds are superficial like those of the believers but in reality they are like those of the devils, and he seeks to destroy the Muslim's unity by sowing dissension among them. Allah the Almighty says:

"And when they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe," but when they are alone with their Shayatin (devils - polytheists, hypocrites, etc.), they say: "Truly, we are with you; verily, we were but mocking."

[Al-Baqarah, 14]

Actually, the hypocrite has some common characteristics with the disbelievers as he does whatever he wants without any restriction or condition, besides that he has some common characteristics with the believers. So, as he has both characteristics, he will be in the lowest depth of the Hell-fire, because the disbeliever is obvious as well as the believer, but the hypocrite is a cheater. Allah the Almighty says:

"And those who believe will say: "Are these the men (hypocrites) who swore their strongest oaths by Allah that they were with you (Muslims)?" All that they did has been in vain (because of their hypocrisy), and they have become the losers."

[Al-Maidah, 53]

He also says:

"Those who deny Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and the Meeting in the Hereafter (Day of Resurrection,), vain are their deeds. Do they expect to be rewarded with anything except what they used to do?"

[Al-Ara'f, 147]

Eighth point: seeking the worldly life:

Dear brother, seeking this worldly life and its pleasures makes the good deeds worthless, because Shaitan (Satan) is so clever, as some scholars said; that is to say he entices man to disbelieve in Allah, but when he finds him a real believer, he entices him to associate sh3er with Allah in worship, but if he finds him following Tawhid (believing in the oneness of Allah), he entices him to commit major sins, but if he finds him adhering to the acts of obedience to Allah, he entices him to commit minor sins, but if he finds him pious he entices him to follow the Bidah (innovation), but if he finds him following the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH, he entices him to commit these last two things which are the last wining cards of the Shaitan: firstly, sowing dissension among the believers, as you find the Muslims in this world disunited, they are divided into many sects, every sect has their own mosques, they have different opinions about the first day of Ramadan and the first day of Eid, and there are many problems, disputes and arguments between them. This is from the work of Satan. Thus, sowing dissension among the believers is from the work of Satan.
Dear brother, the last wining card of the Shaitan through which the deeds become fruitless is seeking this worldly life and the excessive indulgence in the lawful pleasures until death comes suddenly, then man finds that all his deeds become as scattered floating particles of dust. Consider the Noble Ayah below:

"Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein."

[Hud, 15]

And He also says:

"To each these as well as those We bestow from the Bounties of your Lord. And the Bounties of your Lord can never be forbidden."

[Al-Isra, 20]

Dear brother, those who seek this worldly life will achieve superiority in this life, and the clearest example of that is the western people who aimed for superiority in this world and mastered their jobs amazingly therefore they achieved their goal, then they imposed their culture and their decision on other nations. So, the dominance over this world is achieved by those who devote their energy to their work in it, and who fully comprehend its laws, as the reality of this life is completely different from the reality of the Hereafter. Therefore a scholar said: Allah grants victory to the unbelieving fair nation over the oppressive Muslim nation"
He also said: "The worldly life can be good and it is able to go on with infidelity and justice, while it cannot be good with faith and injustice."

"It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulm (wrong i.e. by worshipping sh3er besides Allah),"

[An-An'am, 82]

So, when faith is accompanied by injustice, and when the disbelief is accompanied by justice, then the latter wins. By Allah, all positive principles of the disbelievers in the west which made them powerful are Islamic principles, not because they worship Allah, , rather they worship their own desires, but their intelligence leads them to deduce that when you provide man with all his needs, and when you give him his freedom and dignity, he will give you all his ability (he will devote himself to his work). Therefore, in the developed countries, people work for 8 hours while in the underdeveloped countries, people work for no more than 17 minutes! The statisticians divided the national income on the working hours by the number of people so they found that in some underdeveloped countries people work for more than 17 minutes, while the people in the west work for 8 hours. According to the material standards, I do not believe that a nation whose members work for only 17 minutes can gain victory over a nation whose members work for full 8 hours.
Dear brother, Allah the Almighty says:

"Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein. * They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do."

[Hud, 15-16]

Seventh act: the Shirk (polytheism):

Dear brother, the last thing with regards to our subject is Shirk (polytheism) which makes deeds worthless. Allah the Almighty says:

"It is not for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah), to maintain the Mosques of Allah (i.e. to pray and worship Allah therein, to look after their cleanliness and their building, etc.), while they witness against their ownselves of disbelief. The works of such are in vain and in Fire shall they abide."

[At-Tawbah, 17]

I've searched for the Ayaat of the Quran in which the phrase (their good deeds will become worthless) was mentioned, I found that there are serious acts which make your good deeds fruitless and which are similar to the deadly malignant tumors which end man's life. On the other hand, there are some sins and acts of disobedience to Allah the Almighty which do not bring man's life to an end, nor do they make his deeds worthless. But the acts which I have mentioned is this Khutba bring man's material life to an end and make the deeds which he performed for the Sake of Allah fruitless.
Dear brother, you should be quite sure that you are sincere towards Allah the Almighty, as the deed is not accepted unless it is pure and right; that is to say the deed is pure when it is performed for the Sake of Allah alone, and it is right when it is performed in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH.

"and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You,"

[Al-Ahqaf, 15]

Next lecture, insha-Allah, I will talk about the acts which make good deeds fruitless and which are mentioned in the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH.
I say these words, and ask Allah the Almighty's Forgiveness for me and you; so ask Him His Forgiveness and He will forgive you, and you will gain a lot by doing that.

Praise be to Allah, and I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the Protector of righteous people; and I bear witness that Prophet Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, whose character is exalted. O Allah! Bless sayyidina Muhammad and grant him peace, and to all of his Family and his Companions.

The nature of the western media: applying double standards

Dear brother, last week, one of my noble brother in faith, who is a doctor and who is studying in a college of higher education in France, visited me, he told me about a serious matter which attracted my attention, he said: you heard on the news about the three thousands cars which were burnt in Paris, and you all heard about it, but the amazing thing which I almost could not believe is that most of these cars were burnt by their owners, because these cars were of good quality , and they were all insured, so they took this opportunity and burnt them at night. However, what was broadcasted formally for one time is that more than twenty luxurious large passenger transport buses were burnt at night in a garage, and the garage owner told the police that some masked gunmen who were holding copies of the Noble Qur'an broke into that garage saying: Allah is the Greatest, then they poured gasoline on these cars and burnt them. That noble brother swore to me by Allah that this news was broadcasted for more than one hundred and fifty times, as they broadcast hourly newscast, and this news was broadcasted for six successive days, and it was repeated each hour. But after almost a month, a dispute occurred between the owner of the garage and some of his employees, so one of them raised a formal complaint against him and said that it was the garage owner who had burnt those vehicles, therefore he was imprisoned.
However, this news was just broadcasted one time, and that noble brother told me that he tried desperately to listen to it again but they did not broadcast it except for one time. So, the news which was against us, which was fabricated against us, and which tarnished the reputation of Islam was broadcasted one hundred and fifty times through a week, while the news which proved us innocent of this violent attack, of that burning, and of the destruction of these materials was broadcasted only once.

O Muslim, do not be a victim of the media !!!

Dear brother, do not be victims of the media.
One of my brother in faith told me that any disturbing act you hear about via the media is surely not committed by Muslims, as fabricating false charges against Muslims is happening frequently nowadays, and this way has become well known and silly, so be wary of that by showing a high degree of understanding as the media nowadays is the heaviest weapon against the Islamic nation, and this attack against Islam is so violent to the extent that the Muslim feels really shy of his religion, of being a Muslim and of mentioning the Noble Ayah below:

"to threaten the enemy of Allah and your enemy"

because it includes the word: threat or terror, while I believe that the meaning of this Ayah is to prevent terrorism, because when you are powerful, no one will dare to harm you, to assault you, to distort the image of your Prophet, or to desecrate your Noble Book. So, the truth is what was sent down in the two revelations; the Noble Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH, but it is in need of a kind of power (to be protected).
Dear brother, if our enemies want to impoverish us, then the act of gaining the lawful (halal) money and spending it in beneficent ways is the most highly significant act of worship, and when they want to mislead us, then the act of illustrating the essence of our religion and enhancing the values of Islam and Muslims is the most highly significant act of worship. Also, if they want to corrupt our morals, then fortifying the moral defense of our young people against corruption is the most highly significant act of worship. Furthermore, if they want to humiliate us, we should sacrifice everything –from what is most valueless to the most precious things, ourselves included.
So, do not be victims of the Western media. For example, they made us believe that there is a serious disease called " Bird flu" which will be the cause of the death of one hundred and fifty million people, however since 1996 till now only eighty-six people died of it, while the number of people who died of cold is more than that. But they have some financial interests as the vaccine against this disease is monopolized by a person in the western world, he collected 11 billion dollars till now, so the more he makes people believe that they are exposed to a horrible danger, the more he will benefit. For example, when a child died of this disease in Turkey, his funeral was broadcasted in eleven satellite channels, so what is the reason behind this great fear?
So, do not be victims of the western media. By Allah we are subjected to media repression nowadays; i.e. in the past our enemies used to compel us by armed force to do whatever they want, but now they want, through the soft power (the media), to influence our thinking according to their own will.
