- Ramadan Lectures 1446 AH – The Most Beautiful Names of Allah
In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Dear brothers, today we explore another of Allah’s Beautiful Names, and the Name for today is Al Hakeem.
When we say that Allah Almighty is Al-Hakeem, it means that He possesses true wisdom. This wisdom is unique to Him and is upheld by Him, just like His other Attributes:
﴾ Who has created (everything), and then proportioned it; And Who has measured (preordainments for each and everything even to be blessed or wretched); then guided (i.e. showed mankind the right as well as wrong paths, and guided the animals to pasture). ﴿
He brings joy and sorrow, and He guides and misguides according to His Wisdom.
Al-Hakeem means that He determines, with His Wisdom, the preordainments for everything to fulfill its purpose.
Why did Allah create two eyes for us instead of just one?
A person with one eye can only see in two dimensions, perceiving surfaces but not shapes. However, with two eyes we can see in three dimensions, allowing us to perceive depth and shapes more accurately.
Al-Hakeem: Allah's Wisdom is evident in everything we see in the universe.
One of the main reasons for having faith in Allah is His clear Wisdom.
For example, the fetus in its mother's womb has an opening between its two auricles (called the foramen ovale). After birth, a clot closes this opening due to Allah's Wisdom. If it didn’t close, people would sugger from cyanosis and could potentially die.
