Islamic topics- Miscellaeous topics(100): Prophetic biography and its importance- Islam is liveliness, disciplin and affection

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The greatness of Islam lies in its realistic idealism:

Dear brother, the word of truth, which was descended upon the prophet PBUH, was revealed to a person (the prophet PBUH) who carried it out to the letter, and this exactly what arouses our yearning to obey Allah knowing that this word of truth was carried out, and if this religion was only theoretically written in a book, we would never have the desire to apply it or to obey Allah the Almighty, Allah said:

(( Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.))

[Al-Ahzab, 21]

Where does the value of Prophetic Biography come from? It comes from being applicable facts by the prophet PBUH, considering that you are not affected but by applied facts, and this is what we call: “Realistic idealism”.
On the other hand, we have what is called “imaginary idealism” in our lives, which we resort to when we suffer from the bitter reality, and this imaginary idealism (unrealistic one) is only words in its gist.
All idealism was offered by thinkers and reformative people brought about unrealistic imaginary idealisms, whereas the reality of the people was bitter, however, Islam’s greatness lies in its realistic idealism.
It was said: Quran is a speaking universe, the universe is a silent Quran, and the prophet is a walking Quran (He has Quranic manners).

The Prophets conveyed the word of truth:

We look for having a Muslim figure in flesh and blood that is capable of making a difference in this life. But what did happen nowadays? People stopped believing in words, and instead, they believe in the tangible accomplishments of the powerful countries such as: satellites, nuclear plants, submarines, aircraft carriers, Inter continental rockets, wide varieties of weapons, huge accomplishments, giant bridges, and Strategic industries, but what did the prophets bring about? They brought about the word of truth, and though it is a mere word, yet it is honest and sincere:

((A goodly word as a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the sky (i.e. very high). Giving its fruit at all times, by the Leave of its Lord and Allah sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember.))

[Ibrahim, 24-25]

The Prophets’ messages were mere words, yet it was sincere word with which they changed the face of the world.
However, what we suffer from nowadays is having people who tell lies, act, and play the role of high morality people, yet they are not.
Because of all the lies and acting, things got mixed up and led people to disbelieve in the word.
Therefore, unless we carry out our words to the letter, people will never believe in them. Unless we carry out our words, the latter will never be powerful, beacons, or alive.
People will follow you when you own noble morals even if you don’t say a word. As I always state: there is always the possibility of the silent calling to Allah by being righteous, honest, trustworthy, and merciful.
People stopped believing in words and speeches. What are we doing now (as Islamic nation)? Islamic world is weak, so how are we responding to the powerful countries? We do that through condemnation, denunciation, we stress on such and such, we burn flags, or we burn a picture, whereas the western world is laughing at us. We are in dire need for actions against them. Some indicate to Islam saying: Islam now is nothing but a vocal phenomenon, which is not true.

Calling to Allah is one of the greatest deeds at all:

I used to say (I suppose I mentioned that in a previous lecture): unless we establish foundations, our religious speech will not succeed.
One of the most important foundations is to be a good example before calling to Allah, to be pious before being eloquent, to start with essentials not the insignificant details, to stress on concepts not titles, to follow principles not persons, to be gradual not a solo incident, to resort to arousing the interests in the religion not frightening people from it, to hold on to positives and leave negatives, and to call to facilitation in matters not to a limited horizon (difficulty in matters).
However, even by applying all these foundations, you still won’t succeed if Muslims are weak, hence, we have a long far way to cover, we are in dire need to hold on to each other, to strengthen ourselves, to solve our problems, and above all, we need to our religious speech to be successful, only then, the western world will listen to what we say, and will follow us.
I repeatedly say that this religion is collective, namely, if the whole nation turn away from Islam, I can do nothing as an individual in terms of massive affect, however this religion is individual at the same time, namely every Muslim has to play a role by applying Islam and in order to collect its fruit.
Try not to think of Islam as texts, words and information, yet, you should think of it as a moving reality, as a Muslim in flesh and blood walking on foot, as honesty, as trustfulness, as chastity, as righteousness, as mercy, and as endurance, and when you look at Islam that way, be aware that Allah is Justice enough to let you reap its fruits as an individual.
All these lectures are useless unless you apply what you hear, and only then you will be impressively effective.
You should all know that one of the greatest deeds you can offer in the sight of Allah is to be a proselytizer in Allah’s cause:

((And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."))

[Fussilat, 33]

Calling to Allah is an individual obligation within what you know:

Calling to Allah is of two kinds, one of them is a professional one performed by those with Phd in Islam, or occupy a religious position as Khateebs (who deliver sermons in the mosque), and the second kind is the one performed by all Muslims alike, through spreading the word of truth in the limits of their knowledge to the people they know.
Is it acceptable that you attend a religious session for an hour and forget all about it? This is unacceptable, namely, you are wasting your time in attending that lecture. It is unbelievable to forget all about the hadiths, the verses, the stories, the laws, the comments and the notices that you have listened to in that hour when the session is over! I am not making this up. Some people are greatly impressed by a lecture, yet they remember nothing when they are asked about it. This is one big problem we are suffering from. When the prophet PBUH said to you:

((Convey from me even an Ayah of the Qur'an))

[Ahmad, Bukhari and Tirmizi, by Ibin Amro]

You should right down an ayah that was interpreted, a hadith you’ve been told about, a story that you are affected by, or a scientific miracle that was mentioned, and then try to covey it all next weak long, like when you visit your sister for example, your partner, your colleague, or your friend, tell them about it.
Hence, be an individual caller to Allah within your knowledge limits, and this doesn’t mean in any way that you have all the answers rather than conveying the knowledge you know to the people around you. One should not say: I am not obliged to be a proselytizer, well, who does say so?

Considering Islam as rituals only is a big mistake:

The most serous mistake Muslims commit is to assume Islam as ritual acts of worship only, namely, prayers, fasting, performing Haj, paying Zakat and bearing witness of Shahada, on the contrary, Islam is lot of laws, one of which is the following:

((By Al-'Asr (the time). Verily! Man is in loss, Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf)which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar)which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience))

[Al-Asr, 1-3]

Recommending one another to righteousness, this is the call to Allah which is considered as one of the corner stones of surviving, better yet, it is one four of survival’s elements. Dawah (calling to Allah) is an individual obligation in one’s knowledge’s limits with those of his acquaintances such like: friends, neighbors, relatives, or colleagues, and you are not demanded of anything further.
You might meet someone who is concerned about Islam, well, May Allah bless him, however beside this great sensation, he does not apply Islamic basics in his house.
Dear brother, Muslims are weak all over the world, their enemies despoiled their natural resources and occupied their land, so what can you do? There is nothing you can do on that world wide level, yet you can do a lot as individual, for instance, you can apply Islamic laws in your house, at your work, and on your self, and you are not demanded of anything further, and when you do so, then it is fine to be sympathetic with Muslim’s conditions, it is fine to be in pain, or to wish for something different, but remember to do all your obligations on the individual level within your limits:

((Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope))

[Al-Baqarah, 286]

Your scope is to apply Islam on yourself, at your house, and at work.

The religion is all about offering advice:

The least you can do is to convey an Ayah, a Hadith, an effective story, or a scientific miracle to your neighbors, relatives, friends, or colleagues.
We can summarize the whole religion in two words: Never fear anything but your sins, and never beseech anyone but your Lord (Allah).
If you don’t sin, I would have feared that arrogance gets to you, hence, fear your sins and beseech your Lord only.
A Human being loves to indulge in details, insignificant things, prolonged clarification, and exclusive meaningful words such like the following supplication: O lord I am strong because of you and is devoted to you, because of you I can walk, I can learn, and I can provide sustenance. My wife and kids are gift from you. My health, reasoning, body, systems, craft, eloquent, are all favors from you, you are my destination and to you I move forward.
One should never fear anything but his sins, and beseech no one but Allah. O Lord, grant me lawful earning, use me in performing good deeds, and use me to serve your creations.
Therefore, one sometimes likes the meaningful exclusive things like that supplication.

((Religion is all about offering advice to sh3er))

[Muslim, By Tamim Al Daree]

The prophet PBUH summarized the whole religion in one word.
When a shop owner, for example, recommends a stock fabric with stagnant color to a naïve customer, then he is breaking the trust.

The best of deeds are those offered to the closest family:

People mistakenly think that the religion lies in the mosque, by Allah that is not true, and by Allah, who sent Muhammad PBUH with truth, religion lies in your work, at your house, in your relations, in your selling, in your buying, in your marriage, and in your divorce.
I noticed a new fad among men, as one of them is among the first row at the mosque, and he performs good deeds, yet he is a monster at his house, is that acceptable?
This poor and helpless woman that you have, is not she your wife who has no one to resort to but you, and who does give her a smile but you? Who have mercy on her but you?
Those ignorant men hit their wives ruthlessly to the extent that I can’t believe how far those men went in being violent and cruel with their wives, is this an Islamic community?
 The prophet PBUH said:

((The best of you is the one who is best to his own family))

[Ibn Majah, by Ibn Abbas]

The prophet PBUH considered the good deeds those performed to the family, the reason of this is that you appear to people out side your house in your position, reputation, personality, elegancث, and delightful face, but at home no one is watching you, therefore, your real triumph is to be all that at home where no one sees you:

((The best of you is the one who is best to his own family, and I am the best of you towards my family))

[Ibn Majah, by Ibn Abbas]

Islam includes liveliness, behavior, affection and discipline:

Islam is not about passing information to people, or giving them earful of words, on the contrary, Islam is all about liveliness, behavior, discipline, affection, and mercy.
With such idealistic morals the companions were able to spread Islam all over the world.
I used to say: if the companions comprehended Islam the way we comprehend it nowadays, they would have never gotten out of Mecca. Because of their righteousness, Islam reached far lands.
When the prophet PBUH sent Abdullah Bin Rawahah to evaluate Khaibar’s dates, the Jews tried to bribe him with their women’s jewelry to decrease the evaluation, considering that part of this evaluation will go to the prophet PBUH, so His share also will be decreased as well. His respond to this offer was as follows: “By Allah, Although I was sent to you by the most beloved among mankind to me – he was honest with them – and to the most hatred people to me than monkeys and pigs (he meant the Jews), yet, I will never be unfair to you in my evaluation.”
In another incident, a man asked our Master Umar: do you like me? To which Umar answered: No by Allah, so the man said: Will that make you prevent me from my rights? Umar said: No by Allah, so the man said: No problem that you don’t like me, as only women feel sorry for such a thing.
Faith restricts you as a believer. Once I was in the market where I caught the sight of chicken seller who was immersing the chicken alive inside boiling water in order to pluck out its feather easily. I consider such an act as a crime, as you should do that after it stops moving prior slaughtering it. There is no mercy in such an act.
The prophet PBUH saw a man who was slaughtering a goat in front of its sister, so He got mad and said: will you do that away from its sister? Do you want to kill it twice?

Islam is an entire merciful religion:

Islam is a merciful religion which turned into ritual acts of worship only.
Some people sell pornography CDs yet they pray in the mosque, how can someone do such despicable prohibited job and pray at the mosque at the same time?
This painful condition of the Islamic world is drastically increasing.
I told you once that a notable Syrian scholar – who passed away- told me from mouth to ear that when he used to perform sermons in Albania every year, 10 thousand people are moved and touched by it to the point that they were crying and when they do so, they pull out their wine flasks and drink. Wine and vodka are just like water to most of Muslims in Russia and Europe. We are talking about wine!! Hence, Islam is turning into rituals, and what do rituals mean? They are moves, stills, nods and mumbling which make no difference.
What we have in Islam are acts of worships but not rituals, we have connection with Allah, righteousness on His path, and fasting from all prohibitions (not only food and drink).
Dear brother, we live an era where 1.5 billion individuals (Muslims) don’t have the upper hand, they don’t control their matters, and they are overtaken by their enemies in thousands of ways. Unfortunately, this is how Muslims are these days.
We should bring Sunnah to life, bring this method to application, and bring Quran into effect disregarding what sh3er do, either they understand it or not, and applied or not. Follow Allah’s path as individual so that you reap its fruits. This doesn’t contradict with being with the community, on the contrary, you should offer sh3er your advice and guide them to Allah, yet, when you sense no response, don’t get desperate, as this religion is good for you alone. My words are precise: This religion is good for you alone, so apply it in your house and at work so you can be saved in the sight of Allah.

Islam includes activeness, stances, application and devotion:

Can you deal only with believers? Don’t keep but a believer for a companion:

((Take only a believer as a companion and let only a pious eat your food))

[Abu Dawood and Tirmize, by Abu Saeed Al Khidri]

There is a subtle concept here: you need an environment as a believer, as I will never believe that someone can be righteous while befriending corrupted friends who don’t perform Salah and lure him to commit sins, therefore:

((And keep yourself (O Muhammad) patiently with those who call on their Lord (i.e. your companions who remember their Lord with glorification, praising in prayers, etc., and other righteous deeds, etc.) morning and afternoon, seeking His Face, and let not your eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp and glitter of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our Remembrance, one who follows his own lusts and whose affair (deeds) has been lost.))

[Al-Kahf, 28]

Dear brother, this is a religion of actions, stances, applications, drawing closer to Allah, sincerity, good intentions, and accomplishments, so don’t turn it into ritualistic religion.
A brother of ours who happened to visit an Islamic country told me: “By Allah, drinking wine and fornication are habitual acts in this country though they are performing the five prayers”.
One might drink wine yet pray considering that nothing, and he says that the first act has nothing to do with the other.
This is a very dangerous stage to reach in which we separate between being righteous and worshipers, and this exactly what voided this religion.
Dear brother, we are in dire need to comprehend our religion in a different, deep, applicable, exalted way, rather than comprehending it literally and ritually.
Some people perform their Salah (prayers) neglecting righteousness and they don’t consider this as a problem, all they care about is just performing the five prayers regardless its fruits, purposes, and conditions of its rightness.

The harsh heart is far from Allah:

Dear brother, one of us needs to perform self revision each morning:

((Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah).))

[Al-Muzzammil, 6]

Amid hustle and bustle, phone calls, appointments, businesses, timeframes, and pressure, Fajr Salah is still as described by the prophet PBUH:

((He/she who offers the dawn (Fajr) in congregational Prayer will come under the Protection of Allah till the night, and he/she who offers night Salah (Isha’a) in congregational Prayer will come under the protection of Allah till the dawn))

[Ahmad]

Hence, when you have the chance to offer Fajr and Isha’a Salah in congregational prayer you will cover the whole day being under the protection of Allah.
In some Qudsi relics it was said: “Don’t leave the two Ruk’as’ prayer before sun rise (Fajr Salah) and I will take care of you the entire day”.
Can you imagine walking under the protection of Allah, as nothing will surprise you because you are sure that Allah the Almighty loves you and will never inflict you with something beyond your endurance, and the evidence is in the following Ayah:

((Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector)."))

[At-Tawba, 51]

The phrase “has ordained for us” embraces a positive meaning (of something good not bad).
When someone joins a group of people, he will be entitled to lot of privileges, along with the same line, you are entitled for millions of privileges when you follow Allah’s path, as you are obeying the creator of the universe, the heavens, and the earth. The first privilege will be protecting you, defending you, inspiring you to do things the right way, and sometimes Allah might discipline you out of love.
When you are righteous before marriage, Allah will grant you a pious wife whom looking at will give you pleasure, who will be faithful in your absence, and who will obey you when you ask her anything. By Allah, life is so beautiful within the limits of faith, as Allah will be with you when your deeds are good, your home is discipline, your family is righteous, and your kids are obedient, by Allah, this kind of life is almost paradise on earth. A scholar once said: If you didn’t step in the paradise of worldly life, you will never enter the paradise of the hereafter, the worldly paradise is being close to Allah the Almighty.
I hope that every human will comprehend this religion (Islam) as it should be, deeply, applicably, and exaltedly, not to mention being discipline and giving, unlike those whose hearts turn into stones, because committing sins results in cruelty in the heart which if occurs, the person as a human being is finished. The more distant a heart is from Allah, the crueler it will be.

The scientific topic:

Reflecting puts one of us face to face with Allah’s greatness:

Out of habit, we tackle a scientific topic in the last ten minutes of every lecture in order to reflect on the creation of heavens and earth.
You all know for certain, that Allah the Almighty is unreachable by sights, yet reachable by minds, and this universe is a manifestation of His beautiful names and best attributes, therefore, when you reflect on the creation of heavens and earth, you become face to face with Allah’s greatness.
Reflecting is the widest gate and the shortest way between you and Allah, as it puts you face to face with Allah’s greatness.
We are bestowed with smelling system which consists of twenty million smelling nerves, and each one of those nerves ends with seven cilia which are immersed in a substance able to respond to different smells. Each smell has its own code like a geometric shape (either a shape of prism, pyramid, sphere, cube, or cuboid). Given every smell has its own code and geometric shape, it interacts with the substance at the end of the smelling nerve to form a shape which is shipped to the brain where smelling memories are located, so a comparison is run between that shape (smell) and the items stored in memory till finding the exact item, so one can tell what smell is that.
This very complicated system works in one second, and this is an honor given to us by Allah.

Human eye is a sign of Allah’s greatness:

The eye of the human being is able to differentiate between eight million colors, better yet; it is able to distinguish 800 thousand shades of a single color:

((Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?))

[Al-Balad, 8]

The most advanced professional digital camera in the world has 10 thousand light-sensitive cells in every one millimeter square, whereas the retina of a human eye has hundred million light-sensitive cells, hence, Allah says:

((Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?))

[Al-Balad, 8]

Allah equipped the eye with an anti-freezing substance, so when you travel to very cold areas where temperatures drop to seventy degrees bellow zero, the water of the eye never gets frozen, or else, everyone lives in cold areas will lose his/her sight.
There is elastic lens in the eye provided with ciliata muscles to apply pressure on the lens to get more curved and to be pulled up in order to decrease its curving, this process tells you how much distance is there between you and a ball (for example), so when the muscles press on the lens, they make the image formed on the retina, and this is the most complicated process which is called “focus”, to explain this process, if we put a magnifier between a lighting candle and a cardboard, we get an upside down sharp image of the candle on the cardboard at a certain point and this is called focus point, how can we locate this point? We can do that by moving the magnifier back and forth till we get a sharp image, and after getting that image, any movement even by one millimeter, the image gets blur, accordingly, the eye has its own focus point as well.
Now if we think about it, we will be puzzled by comparing the eye and the magnifier, as in the latter we are moving the magnifier back and forth till we find the focus point, but in the eye, what is moving back and forth to get to the focus point?
It is the lens which is moved by the muscles to change its curve accordingly, as if these muscles are like a rational brain, as they calculate the distance between the eye and the object to be seen, and according to that distance they press on the lens till they form a sharp image of that object on the retina. Therefore, when you see a moving car, you are doing this process of focusing every second, and same goes for a ball, or anything else. This is beyond comprehension, Allah says:

((Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? And a tongue and a pair of lips? And shown him the two ways (good and evil)?))

[Al-Balad, 8-10]

Human body is a significant sign of Allah’s Greatness:

You are so precious in the sight of Allah, it was reported in some As7adeth:

((Allah created Adam with resemblance to the divine entity))

[Agreed upon, Abu Huraira]

Each individual has his/her own distinguished cornea like an identity which is used nowadays on passports lest they will be forged, we have our unique corneas and the same goes for our skin’s smell, voice, tissue group, sperms, finger prints, and blood plasma. One of Allah’s names is the Oneness (unique) so do you, as He bestowed you with this attribute. Hence, your body is the most significant sign which indicates Allah’s greatness, and the proof is in the following Ayah:

((Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)], Has taught man that which he knew not.))

[Al-Alaq, 1-5]

“Clot” means lump, yet, nine months later, the brain will be having 140 billion cells, the retina will be having 130 million rods and cones, the smelling system will be having 20 million nerves, and the eye will be having 900 thousand nerves, not to mentioned the human systems, the ear, the tongue, the digestive system, the peptic, the intestine, and the liver, and each cell in the body has 5000 functions to do. By Allah the Oneness, if you spent your entire life reflecting on your body creation, you won’t have enough, and this is the closest sign to you.
Therefore, dear brother, we should know Allah in order to worship Him, and know His laws in order to obey Him.
