If you do not have your own plan in worshiping Allah the Almighty, the westerns have their plans for you, so do TV channels in order to make you incline to matters that do not please Allah through their movies and shows. Hence, if you do not plan, they are planning against you. 

As I see it, surrounding yourself with pious brothers helps you increase your obedience to Allah the Almighty and keep it ascending. The proof is in the following Ayaat:

﴾O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds) .﴿ 

[At-Taubah, 119]

﴾And keep yourself (O Muhammad PBUH) patiently with those who call on their Lord (i.e. your companions who remember their Lord with glorification, praising in prayers, etc., and other righteous deeds, etc.) morning and afternoon, seeking His Face, and let not your eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp and glitter of the life of the world﴿ 

[Al-Kahf, 28]

These two Ayaat confirm the need for pious company of a friend, a brother or a person with whom you may spend fruitful time in terms of faith and with whom you break your Siyaam.
