In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Question:Why a person who converts from other religion to Islam can marry a fellow convert only? You claim Islam promotes equality among human beings. But the above facts will stop a person like me to embrace Islam.
AnswerAssalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatoo Allah Wa Barakatoh,
A Muslim woman has no right to get married to a person of a revealed religion (people of the book), and that is because she believes in Quran while he doesn’t, and she believes in Muhammad PBUH while he doesn’t, so if he marries her there will be disagreement between the two, as he disbelieves in all the matters that are sacred in her belief, whereas the Muslim fellow believes in all prophets and books of Allah, better yet, a Muslim is not considered as a believer unless he believes in all prophets and books of Allah.
