What is the status of hijab for people living in the West?
Question:Dear Dr. Nabulsi,
The answer to your question is as follows:
No one argues that hijab is obligatory for every adult Muslim woman wherever she lives, and there are alot of evidences from the Quran and Sunna about that. You should note that religion is not subject to any living conditions, while the opposite is true. Every Muslim should know that living in non- Muslim countries imposes a tax which is the gradual decrease of religion. This case is a proof.
If one can't comply with his/her religion in a certain place, he/she should reconsider living there.
